Hello Fellow Disboarders!

I wanted to get your input on the incident that happened during our first stay in a Delux Studio at PVB. On the DVC website is lists the Deluxe Studio has a small refrigerator so we planned accordingly to have one and ordered cold groceries. It never got cold enough and our refrigeratored items spoiled. We asked the resort to refund us the cold items and they told us we shouldn’t be asking for a refund because PVB has always had beverage coolers not Small Refrigerators.

They ended up giving us resort credit but made it out like we were being unreasonable. Thoughts? Opinions?

It sounds like your cooling unit wasn’t working properly.
The bev coolers and mini fridges mostly differ in configuration as opposed to how cold they keep food.
I was able to keep food at a safe cooling temp using a bev cooler for 5 days @ BWI .

I wouldn’t worry about your perception of their perception. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I wouldn't be storing meats in there but we have had cheese/deli meats/leftovers/milk without any issues. I'm not sure what you wanted to store in there but coolers are fine for a majority of vacation items.

I know this is after the fact, but maybe if concerned add a bag or two of ice. I've even added some to the mini fridges to be sure. Of course we've had some mini fridges freeze stuff so sometimes you can't win.

No way has PVB "always" had beverage coolers, not small refrigerators. Post Pandemic I don't know, but I know that pre-pandemic (still part of "always"), in late 2019, I had a dorm sized refrigerator in my studio in Moorea.

Was there back in April.. and the beer I had stored in it was cold. You know a cold beer is necessary after a day in the parks!!!

We stayed in Pago Pago on the third floor in Feb 2022 and our room had a beverage cooler. We lost some food, but we weren't too disappointed as we moved to BWV which did have a mini fridge.

I thought only the resort studios at the GF had "coolers" versus the mini-fridge. This is the first I am hearing of the Poly Studios--that is something I would want to know before booking a studio there. Sorry, OP, I would have been concerned also.

Me too, that’s why I was so surprised when we got there. Ultimately, it all worked out in the end and it didn’t ruin the vacation. Just kinda wanted to raise awareness of this particular issue.

We were in a studio in Tokelau a couple weeks ago, and the mini fridge had a freezer section. We were only there a couple nights, so we didn’t use it, but it looked like a normal home refrigerator, just Honey I Shrunk the Appliances size.

Does anyone have a current update on the fridge/freezer combo vs. beverage cooler situation at Poly OG DVC (Tokelau, Moorea, etc?)

I was just in Tokelau last week and had a 2 door fridge with freezer on top.

We do this all the time. We take the "ice bucket" they give you, put the bag in it, fill it with vending machine ice and leave it, cover off, at the bottom of the fridge. Everything stayed plenty cold, and we only need to replenish the ice every couple of days. Now maybe we had an actual fridge, but it wasn't cold/cold when we used it, so we added the ice.

We stayed one night at All star sports with a beverage cooler. Sign on it, saying it's meant to be 41 degrees (might have said or above, but I don't remember). We had picked up three hoagies on the way from airport, planning on saving one until next day. I was worried, so I filled three zip lock bags with ice. Added a wash cloth to each one. Two above hoagie and one below. Next morning there was still ice, but also plenty of water. I'm glad we added it.
