Poly beach for water pagent & fireworks

Well, if you're going to nudge us back on topic....

I seem to remember hearing that only the Hawaii beach had the speakers which piped in the music - some Tahiti Concierge guests couldn't hear it from the Tahiti beach.

So yes, enjoy your meal at 'Ohaha, wander around the torchlit paths of the Polynesian and catch the EWP/fireworks.

Hi,

I'm another one that thinks there's nothing wrong with using the Poly beach to view the fireworks. For me, it would ruin the WDW magic to observe CMs asking people to leave. That is not what WDW is all about. It's refreshing going to WDW and not being exposed to what you CAN'T do.

I think it's fun to have a lot of people around when you're watching the fireworks. The extra folks disperse as soon as they're over so it's not a problem for very long. If it's really important to you psychologically to have an "exclusive" experience, then WDW really isn't the place to vacation.

Just my humble opinion.....

There is a sign right on the Poly beach that states the beach is reserved for Poly guests only. If you have dinner at the resort then you are a guest of the resort. If you come from another hotel just to sit on the beach to view fireworks then you are not a guest. I have never been at the Poly during crowded times but I do know I would not find being in a crowd FUN. That is why I go during low season in October and May.

Anyone know when these signs went up. We are the dreaded Hammock stealers of 1996. Never noticed any signs then. And in 2000 when we came as resort guests because of our hammock/fireworks experience of 4 years earlier, I still didn't see any signs. The first trip the beach was near empty. The second trip was much busier but that may have to do with the time of year we were there, not 4th of July, but a time when a large group is present. I didn't mind sharing one bit.

A sign is sufficient notification of rules. It's a shame that resorts have to check keys and post guards.

If I forget to close my door then is it OK for other guests to enter?

To answer the question, I wouldn't draw the line. It's up to the resort to set the rules. If Disney wants to make the beach at POLY (pool at SAB etc) big enough to accomodate all resort guests, NO PROBLEM. If they want to make it big enough to accomodate sharing amoung similar resorts (POLY to GF) also NO PROBLEM.

Hi Donna,

Same here. We're staying at the Poly this summer and if I notice anyone standing around me - especially another tired mom - I'm going to skootch up on my lounge chair and make some room on the end.

Last year, my daughter and I (guests of the Yacht Club) had reservations at the CA Grille to see the fireworks. Well, the restaurant was a madhouse - people would not leave their tables and everyone around the CM reservationst were so irate - I felt sorry for her.

I grabbed my daughter's hand (she was near getting trampled) and we jumped the monorail over to the Poly. We grabbed burgers and sodas over at Cpt Cook's and went out to the beach. Plenty of seating - a real nice atmosphere. All the kids gravitate out to the waters' edge to see the baby ducks so it's really just grownups trying to get a seat. You can sit on the sand but you've got to be careful about those FL bugs that bite.

That was in May. I do feel sorry for those who were there during July 4th to the point where Poly guests are dealing with hordes of outsiders. But, it's Disney that has to do something about that and I wish they would so guests wouldn't be turning on each other.

We will be at Ohana for dinner one night and want to stay for the water pagent & fireworks. It looks like there is a small beach by the luau. Another beach in the middle of the resort and then a third on the right side of the resort. Which part of the Poly beach should we be on to see?

Sounds like a great idea! You can see the water parade from any of the beaches. Also depending on what time your PS is at 'Ohana you can view the fireworks from the restaurant, it's a great view! Our last trip the fireworks went off while we were there, they even had the music to go along with the show, very cool! After we were finished with dinner our sever said we were more then welcomed to go down to the beach and view the water parade as well. It was a great night!

And to keep my post on topic ~ I do not see anything wrong with other resort guests visiting the Poly to view the EWP or Fireworks. That is just my opinion but I fully respect that others such as ducklite etc... may have different views

Diamond_Girls--we find it to be a very romantic & wonderful experience that we try to do every trip. We've watched the fireworks/EP from the Poly several different times of year( October, December, March & April) and there was always plenty of room to watch. If it was crowded we certainly wouldn't have used the beach, but this was never case. We always at least grab something to eat at the fast-food place & a drink from the outdoor bar if it is open. Your plan sounds great, have a wonderful evening!!
