Poly at 7 months

Here is why I think POLY will not have the easy get into at 7 months that some are thinking..

YES 360 rooms.

1) all resorts.. Studios fill up 1st.
2) people who are taking 2 studios instead of a 1 bed room (or a 2 bedroom) will take 2 rooms of the 360..
3) the majority of points purchased will NOT be for the point hogs, I mean the Bungl. (IN fact I think a re-allocation within 8 years on these will happen).
4) they are HUGE rooms comparative.. and have the split bath.. For some familes the 31 and 36 points a night is a HUGE win over the 50 points at a 1 bedroom else where.
5) there are SO MANY people that are POLY fanatics.. that stay in inn rooms.. sorry this is a BONUS inn room.. it is huge, it is perfect for a couple..
6) location.. .. Though GF and BLT have it.. if you wanna monorail.. it is a monorail....
So I don't think the poly will be easier to get then GF/ BLT, I think it will be on par with BC. . or actually harder in the wintery non storm along beach time.

Dana, I totally agree with you. I think it will be a rat race at 7 months. There will be a lot of "Day 1" was not available, etc.

I am just curious as to how it will be 11 months, and in, but still outside the 7 month mark. (IE will poly owners generally be successful booking at 8 months?)

I disagree a bit. While we may substitute 2 studios for a 1 or 2 bedroom, there is no way we could vacation for a week in 2 studios instead of a 1 or 2 bedroom. 2-3 days, yes. 4+ days, no way!

... and that's a big IF depending on how the booking will be done. If there's no guarantee we'll have to adjoining studios then forget it.

I was originally thinking that the PVB wouldn't be that hard at 7 months, but now I'm not sure. What's got me starting to change my mind is all the points allocated to the bungalows. But how many PVB owners are actually going to want to stay there.

As a rough guess it looks like around 25% of the PVB points are coming from the bungalows.

Reasons it won't fill-up before 7 months:

1) Not everyone is willing or able to plan 7+ months in advance.

2) Plans change...people cancel.

3) On any day/week/year, many Poly point owners will choose to stay at a different property. (Raise your hand if you've owned for more than 3-4 years and used points EXCLUSIVELY at the Home property.)

4) On any given day/week/year, Poly point owners will travel with a larger group and want a One or Two Bedroom villa...which means booking outside of the Poly.

5) Studios at the Poly (and GF) are among the most expensive in the system. Owners looking to economize will attempt to book elsewhere.

Bottom line...even if Poly owners book the resort to 80% occupancy before 7 months (which I believe is an optimistically high number), that still leaves more than 70 Studios available for non-owners. Compared to many other properties, that's a lot of availability.

The availability won't last long beyond 7 months simply because there are now hundreds-of-thousands of owners who will consider Poly when it's an option. But those looking to pop online right at 8am will have a MUCH better chance of booking Poly than the likes of VGF, BLT, BCV, VGC...probably even BWV because of its smaller supply of studios, lower price and location.

BINGO!!!!

They are basically selling enough points for 480 studios, and supplying 360.

Of course, some will get used for Bungalows, no doubt. It is my understanding that the VGF GVs are not exactly in high demand, and there is only 6 of those.

DVD moved form 6 High priced villas in inventory to 16 (with the 10 declared) and eventually 26.

Depends on your party size.. and your length of stay!

While I agree, 2 weeks for a party of 10 in 2 studios would not be the right mix of it.. 5 days over Christmas, with a family of 4 and the grandparents.. Is perfect for 2 studios.. or family of 3 and family of 3.

** I believe that the adjoining studios will happen booking category maybe / maybe not.. but in 70% or more of cases they will have adjoining be adjoining..

It is my understanding that the VGF GVs are not exactly in high demand, and there is only 6 of those.

Take a gander at the availability checker. At least half of the nights between now and June (7 mo window) are showing no availability in VGF Grand Villas. Most logical assumption is that all 6 villas are renting out at least 50% of the time and 4-5 rooms (so far) on other dates when some availability remains.

If they weren't regularly booking 6 Grand Villas, they certainly wouldn't have built 3.5 times as many bungalows and priced them identically.
