We just returned from 8 nights at the Polynesian. I had read a lot of doom and gloom stories on the disboards prior to leaving and was a bit apprehensive. I'm sorry those folks had a rotten time but I've got to tell you...ours was wonderful. We had towel animals left for us four days in a row...and we brought them home. Does anyone know if this was okay?? I guess it's better to ask forgiveness if not. We had two adults and three children (11, 6 and 4) and were VERY comfortable in the room. The room and all the grounds were immaculate. Captain Hooks, Kona Cafe and Kona coffee bar were all terrific. The employees for the most part were friendly but not spectacular or memorable. Our room was in Figi, second floor (no balcony), right off the marina. Nice room but a balcony would have been better...and I requested Tokaulua (spelled that wrong). The only major issue was the 'turn down service that is available on request'. We requested it for the length of our stay and only had it twice. When we complained we were told it was only if requested AND IF they weren't too busy. I told my husband I didn't remember reading the last part in the clause. But, we'd definately stay there again! We spent all 8 days doing something in the parks or DTD but had no magical moments and didn't see any either. I figured it was too hot for them??? My sister stayed at Contemporary and I had to check out her room. It was garden wing and very nice. It looked a bit larger than our Poly room and had a full computer set up. I would almost go there instead of the Poly but it was too far away from the monorail and the food in the food court wasn't as good as Capt'n Hooks. Cindy
