Poly and YC/BC question

I have stayed at WL and AKL and really liked the fact that there were several "out of the way" spots to sit and relax other than the main lobby. We have a trip booked for the Poly this Jan. and considering B/C for next summer but I am wondering if they have any nooks and crannies to explore. My mom is coming with us and she won't be in the parks that much so I want to make sure she has some nice places to wander to.
Also for the POLY is there a lobby/sitting area in each of the long houses? Any other ideas on these two resorts are welcomed!
TIA

Because of your Mom I would suggest the BC. Because that is an Epcot resort she has many places to wander. She's got not only the BC but the YC, BW, Swan and Dolphin. If she's not going to the parks she can walk the boardwalk on the BW and have a great time shopping and she can explore all the resorts. I think she would really enjoy that.

While not all of them do, several of the longhouses do have "mini lobbies" in them where you can sit and relax. There are also the hammocks and sunchairs on the beaches, and seating near the pool. The Y&B/BW area is a bit busy for my taste, and Disney markets it as almost a DTD alternative, so it gets a lot of people wandering around from other resorts and off-property.

The Beach Club has little seating "nooks" in the lobby with sofas and chairs, but they are often occupied by folks checking in .

For a little more calm and quiet, I would suggest the BC atrium. It's down a little hallway (lots of seating in the hallway, too, actually) from the Marketplace. The hallway opens up into a large, beautiful room with lots of windows and different seating areas. It was never crowded anytime we walked through, and I noticed guests reading in there several times.

HTH!! :)

BC has a bunch of smaller rooms for sitting in both the club and Villas part. Like others stated you also have the Yatch/BW/S&D in that area and not really that far of a walk.

Yes, and there are also two balcony seating areas that are nice. One is on the 2nd floor of Raratonga and the other 2nd floor of Samoa.

Another fun thing about the Polynesian and any of the monorail resorts is that without too much walking she could visit all three resorts.

We have stayed at both Poly and YC.
Poly has lots of lounge chairs along the beach - I spent an hour one afternoon in one of these in front of our longhouse (Tahiti) reading the paper and enjoying a soda while DS and DH napped in the room. DH spent some time in one of the hammocks near the volcano pool. Tahiti had a little sitting lounge by the elevator but it was really small. We also enjoyed sitting by the waterfall and vegetation in the Grand Ceremonial House - there are couches, chairs, and benches around it.
We weren't big fans of YC, but did like the little sitting areas in the lobby at BC. They have high backed benches and colorful pillows. I think I also remember some rocking chairs on the outside porch that runs from YC to BC along Storm-Along-Bay.
