Found something curious......

We are hoping to rent DVC at the 7month mark at the Polynesian for mid-Nov this year (I know we could rent now but waiting for the $2 per point premium to drop off from David's). I have been lurking on the DVC boards for a bit and it seems like Poly studios are slower to fill up so I thought our chances were good to wait for the 7month mark. I randomly came across this other rental site(I had never heard of before) and I was curious what their rates were..... Put in my dates in their calculator and instead of a price the poly is coming up as sold out??

Yes, I understand that November is prime Time for DVC owners, but found it weird that they would have the poly as sold out but BWV standard as available....(which I don't believe it is, cause we did try to rent it at the 11 month mark).

This website just full of hornswoggle?

Perhaps this other site is using what resorts they have home resort points for booking as their "available."

FWIW, Dabid's probably can't book you Poly now even for an extra $2/point. Not enough of Poly is sold for new owners to be renting in home resort period.

I'd also guess they don't have any Poly points to rent so they indicate it's sold out. I don't even have to look and I feel 100% confident in stating it's still available.

I was wondering if it meant they just didn't have points to rent it. Which seems a little silly as that doesn't equate to being sold out. Seems like a poor way to do business.

Ooh, I didn't think about David's not even having poly points right now. Well hopefully once we hit 7months there is still availability.

Thank you! That makes me feel better that we have a good chance of getting poly at 7 months for November. We do have contingency plans if there's nothing but it would be pretty freaking amazing if we could get it.

We booked Poly for June at 6 months. It seems there is *usually* availability at the 7 month mark the few different times I have checked. You can keep track with the availability tool.

Thanks so much @pixie08 ! We will be renting, not DVC owners, so we don't have access to the availitbilty tool. I think if I did I would be incredibly obsessed with it! Good to hear others have had luck under the 7 month mark. Trying not to get too excited as its for the busy November time frame. Ah! April just get here already!!! Lol

We got a Lake View studio in July at 6.5 months for this year. Right now due to the number of studios released vs. points sold I think availability will be very good probably the best you will ever see it. After the resort is sold out, I think there will still be pretty decent 7 month availability (esp compared to VGF) but if a lot of those Bungalows sit empty than it may not......

That's why we went ahead and changed from our VGF studio booking for this July. While I know it's sacrilege to trade out of VGF, we own there, and will have many opportunities to stay there (like when we are going back for Halloween Party/F&W in Oct); while we may or may not have such an opportunity to get 9 nights in a Lake View at PVB. (we will likely never buy there even though DW loves the Poly)

You guys are fantastic! Thank you for sharing your experiences. Getting pretty hopeful! It will be pretty incredible if we can spend our honeymoon at the poly! It's been the dream resort!

I was searching the threads and I came across your post. It's crazy but we were planning on being down in Disney for our yearly trip on November 11th as well. We were going to stay at a Moderately priced non DVC resort as we're not DVC owners. Butttttttttt, we've wanted DVC for 2 years now. So we thought we'd just be reasonable and rent DVC points for out trip, through Davids rentals as well. Also for the Polynesian! Crazy! Anyway, I went throuh David's rentals (Just on May15th) and nothing! They said they didn't have anything open for November 11th-15th. (Were there longer, but stay the second half of the week with local family) So my guess is they just don't have points available.

I was wondering if you had any luck with Davids rentals at the Poly for your dates?

Congrats, BTW!!! I married a Disney fanatic and didn't know it until we went with our son 2 years ago. (I previously have been to Disney 20 of my last 26 years. I always told her she just had to see it and when she did, she fell in love as I've always been)

But needless to say, we've been talking to our DVC "rep" of the last 12 months. I feel bad for him. I keep telling him its only a matter of time before we buy points. He told us they have the Polynesian open for those nights if we decide to book (just 3 days ago). So I think one way or another, were gonna go for it. I've never experienced resort Monorail access and want to. Especially with a 3 year old!

Pretty sure Davids doesn't any Poly home resort points available but I think you should be able to get something at 7 months.

Yeah. It's too late at this point to go for a home resort at the Poly. We're set for our resort days for 2016 (11/11-11/15). We contacted David's rentals at just shy of 6 months out and they claimed to only have SSR as a 2nd option for us. It's okay. Probably better to use the 1200 bucks toward a DVC down payment at this point.

This fall, you needed to be booking at 8AM at 7 months for most dates for Poly. A DVC rep can likely get a room someone else booking cannot. We are inside 7 months for November booking at this point, so David's saying they can't get it is all about actual resort availability, not home resort points.

A DVC rep selling a new contract can probably snag an undeclared room if it makes the sale. A DVC member cannot book an undeclared room.

You are absolutely correct. When we spoke the DVC rep, he said just that. I suppose its understandable considering the large purchase you're making. So we may just take "advantage" of the ability to get "our pick of the litter". At this point I don't want to "waste" more money on lodging when it can be going somewhere where we will eventually get those "free" vacations stays. Less the cost of the Annual Passes, Dining Plan, Airfaire, and park expendatures of course!!! :earboy2: Hey some people drink and smoke. We Disney. Haha

Of all of the research of DVC we've looked into, booking ASAP upon the 7 month window never really something we "worried" about. I always figured there would be "time". That's okay though. 7 months is no problem in that regard.

If you buy, you really do need to be ready to book at 11 or 7 months for fall dates. If you want fall Poly and own there, 11 months. Once you buy, if you don't book during home resort booking, your guide can't save your bacon when you decide in April to travel in October!

Right. It makes sense. Just something we didn't put much thought into with all the other things there are to absorb with the whole process. But like I said, knowing this now, booking at 7 months (or 11 if we want the home resort) isn't really an issue for us.

As it were, we had the airfare booked for November's trip since 2/1. We have just have been toying and educating ourselves with the whole DVC option. (That and buying another house in the middle of all this has kinda been a distracting factor.) Orginally, we were just going to spend 4 nights at Caribbean Beach and then 4 at family that lives outside Orlando. But for us, DVC is attractive and something that will work well for our situation.

I know we'll get lucky if we choose to purchase now and I wouldn't expect to be able to book "late" knowing what I do now.

Although, I suppose it raises one (more) question. When calling at 8am 7 months out, do you pretty much get your first choice? I don't know if you have personal experience with that or not, I just figured I'd asked since I have your attention.

Thanks!

Not necessarily. You can assume that you will never/almost never get a VGF studio, AKL Club Level or Value anything, BWV Standard View Studio for Food & Wine, or, really, any Epcot studio for Food & Wine. BLT Standard Studios can be tough at 7 months much of the year.

At 7 months this October, by 10AM the day I was switching my reservation, you couldn't get AKL Standard studios for a full week, and OKW had some holes. BLT studios were gone, including Theme Park View. It was pretty crazy.

For DVC high season, your best bet is ALWAYS to book your home resort before 7-month booking opens, and buy/book where you are willing to stay if you cannot switch.

I agree for October 12 through the 15th we could not get the Poly in either a standard view or lake view at the 7 month mark. I don't know what it was like for the three day weekend the OP is considering in November. I do know that week is always fully booked and hard to get 5 month or later.

I managed a Poly studio for October 15 check-in, but it was kind of bloody. I looked at about 10:30 and the holes in availability at places like AKV, Saratoga and OKW were pretty crazy. VGF being booked? Sure, duh. Saratoga having holes? Whoa.
