Honestly, this isn't political.

We are bombarded with political polls all the time, saying that the Democrats/Republicans are leading by xyz points.

But.

Have you ever actually been polled? I know I haven't.

I take Gallup polls all the time. Many aren't specifically political, but many are, or include a few questions about it.

Nope. When a new poll comes out that we don't agree with, I tell DH, "Well they didn't ask us."

I get calls on my cell for polls. I always try to take the time to participate because while I was in college conducting two phone poll sessions was a requirement for one of my political communications classes and it was a struggle to get anyone to participate.

Every so often someone calls claiming to be associated with X and wanting to do a poll. I just hang up. Your really have no idea who they are and just as likely it is part of some sales pitch to sell you something. I think most political polls are useless since which county/city/state they poll has a HUGE influence on the outcome. When the actual vote ends up being 52% to 48%, I doubt any poll can ever be accurate enough to provide meaningful projections.

I don't answer unknown numbers so they may have tried but I've never participated.

Technically as it was for a learning opportunity, you should have learned that people don't like political poll telephone calls and as such you shouldn't be doing phone calls for political communications such as this

Me either and never actually seen anyone doing that at the various places I have voted. I think those are even less reliable since you can only reach a small number of people at the chosen locations. If you look at any maps of historical voting patterns, what specific locations you choose makes a HUGE difference in the results making them worthless from a statistical sampling point. When elections are fairly close, the pollsters are always left scratching their heads to figure out what went wrong. In fact the methodology they used was flawed.

And these days, a poll is often the first part of a sales pitch that has nothing to do with polls.

Any of my medical providers would leave a message and I'd call back. Not really a problem for me.

Oh Lord, trying to get a hold of my Providers to return a call can take days to catch them. But most call my landline which doesn't have caller ID anyway, so a moot point there.

I guess I'm lucky in that regard. I can return their calls with no problem at all. I guess I better thank them next time I talk to them.

I haven't had a landline in 15 years, and I never answer my Cell unless I know the person. /shrug

Be a regular person and you won't get calls from doctors because you can't afford to go to the doctor after the cost after paying the insurance premiums. I don't answer unknown calls either.
