Pollo Campero opens at DTD

read the blog. saw the photos. Not sure what I think personally.
I think it looks kinda weird. Like a decorated KFC to try to fit into the
theming of what DTD is, dont think it succeeded. THen again maybe it is a disguised KFC.
And the food offerings. Lets see in this window theres what looks to be grilled chicken sandwichs and most likely fried chicken things as well
And in the dessert window, cupcakes. To me cupcakes and grilled chicken arent a great match. Kinda weird.
And a show of hands for anyone who drinks a nice healthy smoothie with their
grilled or fried chicken.
overall without visiting yet. nah, ill pass

I don't think I could discount a restaurant without actually visiting there.
I read the blog and I imagine this eatery being very popular, especially with the younger kids and families with small children.
It does look a little like a food court, nothing wrong with that! There seems to be good healthy choices for those who want them, it's always nice to see veggie options.
I actually believe that excess sugar is more of a health issue than excess fat (if it's not transfat) and so the bakery wouldn't appeal to me. You mention Agave natural sweetener, I use it in my baking.
I imagine this would be a nice quick stop for a litttle nosh. It looks bright and cheery too! and that is what Disney is all about.
Thanks for the heads up.

The bakery counter has me tempted!

Thanks for the update! I think it looks great with a wide variety of things to try in one stop. Definitely plan on giving it a try in January when we're down there. The separate stations are definitely reminiscent of Sunshine Seasons and I like the open airy design. I also like the idea of a Sangria with my lunch.

My mom (who has Celiac's) will be THRILLED with the dietary accommodations that can be easily made at a CS location.

Will it be on the DDP?

And are there any McDonalds outlets still in Epcot and Animal Kingdom?

Thanks

Third party restaurants won't be announced until the very end of 2010, so a definitive answer on the DDP question probably won't be available until the very end of December. (There is a sticky about the third party restaurants on the DDP board that you may want to keep an eye on, if it is announced that it's part of the DDP it will be posted there shortly after the announcement)

McDonald's is no longer in any of the parks either.

Aww my daughter will miss the fries, she doesn't have them often but as a treat now and then on holiday.

If it's not on DDP this year, it probably won't be on DDP next year. Usually new DDP restaurants go on DDP as soon as they open. It is my guess that neither Pollo Campero nor the bakery will accept DDP as most DTD restaurants don't.

Family meal looks like a good deal!

Glad McDonalds is gone forever and at least something replaced it but
I'll stick with my Earl of Sandwich any day over this. It does kind of remind me of an earlier post. Looks like a KFC made to look like it belongs in DTD

Well, we won't be having lunch/dinner there...need my EofS and Wolfgang puck fix...but those cupcakes sure are tempting, especially the red velvet!!! maybe a little extra dessert after we see LaNoba!!!

There is one about 20 minutes from where I live. The fried chicken and Latin sides are excellent. I'm glad there is another inexpensive but tasty option for our family. We are Fla residents so are more into shorter, more frequent trips and since we don't do dining plans, this will be a nice option.

We also have Pollo Campero close by and its FABULOUS! Their chicken and their sides are very flavorful and of high quality. We dine there often.

As a family who have to work around celiac restrictions, we're THRILLED to see Pollo Campero and Babycakes at DTD. We LOVE Babycakes!

I am really looking forward to trying this in December. :) The menu looks good, and the cupcakes look brilliant. I think the prices seem reasonable too. :)
