I am in the Platinum with another booked that will be our 40th DCL (Bermuda from NYC next October). But, if a *GT rate comes out on something that fits our schedule between now and then I would consider it. We also care for our granddaughter for a few days a week and I hate leaving them stranded with no sitter but they are due to have their second so my DIL will be off work for a few months. Hope to fit a cruise in during that time.

we have booked more 4 night cruises than we ordinarily would

Sorry about your surgeries. Hope things will be fine for you.:goodvibes

Travel costs from my area would make four 4 night cruises unmanageable, unless they were B2B!

Platinum with more than 5 future cruises booked!:boat:

Nice idea for a poll.
We are platinum with 3 cruises booked. Spring break with friends, double dip 4th of July, and 4 night Bermuda out of New York. Trying to change up or normal cruise routine.

Platinum with six future cruises booked although one or two of those will be cancelled. Have to decide between Bermuda B2B with a WDW/CC cruise or a Fantasy EC cruise next Fall.

Thought it would be interesting to poll this topic because I see this come up every time the new schedule is released. There are always some sad people. There are always some mad people and there are always some huge fans. Where are you?

I love your assortment of options. We are platinum and have a couple of cruises booked and a couple of placeholders yet to use. However, I could not bring myself to say we would NOT sail on other lines because I like to keep my options open. :)

Just reached Gold, husband is Silver, and we were getting ready to book an EC cruise next year and Alaskan in 2019, but are both officially priced out from this year's increases. We will be switching to RC as our experience on DCL was nowhere on par with their prices, which we find to be double (sometimes more) than their competitors. :sad2:

I would most definitely do someone other than DCL for Alaska. Disney doesn't go to Glacier Bay, for one. But more importantly, if you have the time and money, do a one way in Alaska(at least) and go see Denali. You won't be disappointed. Honestly, my preference would be to forget the cruise and just do a land tour of Alaska. The 2 weeks we spent driving around Alaska was one of my top vacations ever!!!!

EC cruises are a dime a dozen and I agree, I'm not paying Disney prices for that itinerary either. My RCCL wasn't my favorite, but I think we just went in the summer and they were way too many teenagers.

We have completed 1 DCL cruise--Alaskan, and have a second booked for next summer (Northern European.) DH thought he would be 1 and done after the first cruise...but I managed to convince him to let us book a placeholder onboard with the plan of booking cruises 2 yrs apart. For us we want 'interesting' itineraries--so the Alaskan and Northern European meet those criteria. Next summer's will be a mix of 'grad' present for DD17 and for our 25th anniversary (2 mths early). We will likely book another placeholder on board, with the thought of doing another one in 2 yrs. We'll see.

We are big Disney fans though--own DVC, have the Disney Visa, AP holder, etc...so DCL is a nice extension of that...it's just a lot more expensive than our Disney World trips...

Thank you for the awesome advice! While I've heard an Alaskan cruise is a must-do, there are a lot of things on my bucket list that a cruise doesn't offer as well (like Denali, riding the inter-Alaskan railway, etc). With RC we are looking at approximately 3,000 for the cruise, not including excursions or airfare, which would round us out to an estimated 6,000 for a 7 day total. If you don't mind my asking, can you give me an idea of what a 2 week land tour would look like cost-wise?

Platinum with 3 future cruises booked and 2 placeholders for the summer of 2019.

We were on our first cruise (Dream) this past June and have a Very MerryTime cruise booked for 2018 on the Magic. After that, I'm not sure what we'll do. It will probably be a while before we do any cruise at all for a while as we'll probably be spending our vacation dollars on other things such as going to Yellowstone or other places in the US. Our daughter (12 now) will then have been to WDW twice and on DCL twice so it'll be time to try some other things before she moves out on her own.

@mrswillson, I really couldn't give you a good estimate of our cost. It was booked independently in 2008(EEK, almost 10 years ago, when my youngest graduated from high school!!). I chose individually everything we wanted to do, we were busy just about every day and booked everything myself. I planned this huge trip, naively thinking we were going to do everything we wanted because we weren't ever coming back. That turned out not to be true!

I think you could plan a trip for that amount, especially if it's Denali and the train and you're excluding excursions and airfare.

One thing I can suggest. Look at the Princess Lodges. https://www.princesslodges.com/. They have their own tours. What I did was pick and choose things from there that interested me and a few other travel experts and pieced together what we wanted to do.

The summer we traveled, it was stay one night, get one night free at the Princess Lodges, so we did take advantage of that. We stayed in 2 of them, one at Mt. McKinley, the other at Copper River.

We stayed in Achorage at a local hotel within walking distance of the train station. We then took the train to Seward. Husband and daughter did a glacier dog mushing excursion. We did a boat tour on Resurrection Bay and went to Exit Glacier. Then took the bus back to Anchorage. Picked up a car and drove south to Whittier. On that drive we saw a beluga in Turnagain Arm and a black bear just walking down the road! Then back through Anchorage to drive over to Valdez and did another boat tour on Prince William Sound. We then drove North to North Pole, Alaska and Fairbanks (In hindsight, I could skip this). We then drove South to Denali staying with the only sanctioned Dog Musher in Denali, at the time, at his hotel in Healy. Did the long Denali (12 hours) bus tour and loved every single minute. Stopped in at Talkeetna, just to look around, and then stayed at the Mt. McKinley Lodge(Princess) on the way back to Anchorage.

One important, very important, suggestion is that if you drive independently in Alaska, you need to buy a copy of The Milepost. It was invaluable for gas stations which are few and far between and saved us a couple of times.

If you would like any further information, just ask. Huge Alaska fan and I hate the cold!

@DCLDVC1 I'm right there with you.

I do have a cruise in December, but it's one I don't even want to do since the itinerary was altered to ports I don't want to visit. I'm taking my young granddaughter and her mom, though, so I couldn't back out of that one.

I had a placeholder that was set to expire in early 2019, so I did put down a deposit on a cruise, but I probably will cancel it. I'm just not that excited about it.

I do quite a bit traveling besides cruising and I just don't feel like I get bang for my buck on Disney anymore, especially when itinerary, food and entertainment is so repititive.
