We're planning a Spring Break trip, and we currently have a 1 bedroom booked at the Beach Club villas, which we picked for the proximity to Epcot and HS. Now that spring break discounts have come out, I am reconsidering. We could switch to Copper Creek and save $1800, still in a 1 bedroom villa. Of course, we then would not have walking access to any parks, or Stormalong Bay.

We haven't stayed at either resort before. Our last two trips were at BLT in a theme park view 1 bdr, which was AMAZING but is not available for this trip. Our favorite resort is MK, but Epcot and HS follow closely behind, so walking distance to those parks is valuable to us. Our kids will be 6 and 3, and they love pools but are not strong swimmers, so I don't know how essential Stormalong Bay is, or if the WL pools will be just fine.

We definitely want a villa for the kitchen and washer/dryer, and renting points is out because we will be financing the trip with Disney gift cards that I received as part of our (incredibly generous!) reward system at work. My gift cards will cover Beach Club (just barely), but we would obviously have a lot left over for food and souvenirs if we go with Copper Creek, so we would really only have to pay airfare.

What would you do?

I haven't stayed at either in a villa (did stay at BC in a room). Have you been to WDW on Spring break? If your spring break is the week before or after Easter (for 2019 I'm guessing the week before Easter will be the most crowded) - then it's really quite crowded. More crowded than summer. I think the F&G will be going on at Epcot as well. It sure would be nice to be able to stay off the busses for Epcot and DHS during a crowded time (especially with little ones). I'd probably plan dinner at Epcot for most evenings so I could walk back. However I think CC looks beautiful - is there a boat to the MK from there? A dedicated boat to the MK might sway it for me (because I love the MK and with little kids it's the often the best) plus you get the $$$$ to spend which I can think of a lot of souvenirs calling my name lol! I usually try to go with my gut (like if one resort excites you more than the other) - I think you really cannot go wrong.

With the ages of your children I’d vote for WL. Boat or bus options to get to MK. I love the boat option. You can also take the resort boat that connects you to CR and Ft W.
We just got back from a Sept stay at WL. The new Villas pool is beautiful and is zero entry.

A second vote for WL Cooper Creek. With your children's ages they would be fine in the pools at WL. The youngest one will enjoy the splash pad area and your 6 year old will enjoy the slide at the main pool. In addition, will you be spending most of your time at the MK? That makes the WL very close vs a bus from BC.

My vote is for WL Copper Creek as well. When mine were the ages your two are, MK was the park of preference. Plus, the boats to MK and Contemporary (chef mickey's!) really make it convenient to return to the resort for midday naps/breaks. Also, the boat rides in and of themselves are a treat for them. If they were teenagers, then my vote would be for BC.

Thanks for the replies so far - I’m so torn! Right now, we’re planning 2 days each at MK and Epcot, and one day at HS. If we switch to Copper Creek, we would replace one of those Epcot days with AK or with a 3rd day at MK (we like AK but don’t care about FOP - my oldest didn’t like it last year, and my youngest is too little). My main concern is the buses with the Spring Break crowds. We have never been during a school holiday before, since my oldest just started school this year. Of course, $1800 buys a lot of Minnie Vans! Anyone have experience with Minnie Van service during a very crowded time?

We also tend to eat at our resort (quick service or casual table service) most days for dinner. I know there are a lot of dining options in the Boardwalk area, so that’s appealing, and I’ve already made a couple of B&C dinner reservations. The Epcot dining options are nice for our Epcot days as well (no hoppers). How are Roarin Fork and WCC at the WL?

I voted for Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek. With the ages of your children, I think that the pool there would work better than Storm Along Bay. Also, the boat ride to the MK is almost a ride in itself. And the money saved is significant, as well. Win, win, win!

It has been a couple of years since we stayed at the WL, but we really enjoyed the restaurants at the time. We ate at Roaring Forks often. Artist Point was good, but we only ate there once.

Another vote for Copper Creek. It’s a beautiful resort and the pools are very nice. You could also look into Uber, not sure the cost difference from the Minnie vans.

There are a lot of dining options available in addition to what's at WL. Fort Wilderness is a boat ride away as well as the Contemporary. If you plan it right, you can leave MK, and stop at any of the monorail resorts to eat before heading to WL via boat from MK or Contemporary.

It's been a long time since we stayed at WL, but the food at Roarin' Fork and WCC was good.

We've stayed in 1-bedrooms at both and love them both. While I love the EP resorts for the proximity to EP and DHS, with the advent of Minnie Vans (plus lyft and uber), location has become less of an issue for us, because if I could save $1800, I could take Minnie Vans to make park or resort-to-resort transportation much easier and still come out WAY ahead. With kids that young, I also think the pools at WL would be better for them. The main pool and slide are much smaller than Stormalong Bay at BC and they have a children's splash pad at WL. Plus, you will have boat access to Ft. W, MK and CR which gives you some other dining options in close proximity. We just stayed in a 1-bedroom at CCV last December and it was fantastic. I would save the $1800 and stay at CCV!
