Considering how long it took to sell out OKW and VB, I think they should stick to on site.
ahhhhh....... what they should do and what I'd like them to do as the OPs question is worded may be two entirely different things.

I hope they do not have any more onsite expansion. I'm fine with the current
number of onsite options. The more there are, the more it devalues the point values for trading and for cruises.

Although a DVC ship certainly sounds very nice. Perhaps just a deck on a Disney ship.

A Niagra Falls DVC? Poconos DVC? Rooms are too cheap in Vegas for a Vegas DVC....

Think now, everyone!!

The reason there are so many DVC members who want to spend ALL their points at WDW is that DVC is marketing WDW DVC resorts from kiosks at WDW to people vacationing at WDW who want to come back TO WDW!

DUH!

If DVC builds OFF SITE resorts and markets to off site vacationers from off-site kiosks they will attract members who want to return to off site resorts. Sure they may want to visit WDW once in a while! But the more off site resorts, the more variety of members with different interests for travel destinations.

The ebb and flow to and from WDW would balance out.

Most people don't want to go to WDW every single year. They care how far they are from the ski slopes or the beach more than they do about distance from Epcot. There are 50 million skiers visits each year in the US-- and that's spread out over a ski season that's about 5 months long. I don't know how many beach visits there are.

Your points will be more valuable in 2020 if you have the option to visit dozens of destinations across the US (within the DVC system) rather than just WDW.

You may actually discover there are places to vacation just as wonderful. :rolleyes1

:earseek: Blaphemy!!

:faint:

J/K There are lots of great places to visit, and we are planning a ski vacation possibly for next (not this coming) spring break. I would enjoy having a DVC somewhere like that. Plus I love the cruise ship/deck idea.

Destin, Florida :sunny: I just found out my beloved honeymoon spot, Henderson Park Inn is being torn down - due to hurricane damage. I cannot believe it. You can view what it once was at HendersonParkInn.com.

The Henderson Park Inn was one of Abbott Realty's best renting properties! Bed and breakfast right on the beach with Victorian decor, white sand, state park adjacent, so no neighbors to the right, adult only, hot tubs in all the rooms. I am soooo sad! Disney, help!!! I need some "magic." :(

I looked at a random sample accuracy calculator. We can be 90% confident that we are within 5% accuracy (5% of what though I'm not sure, i.e. would something 18.9% be 23.9% worst case or just 5% off of the 18.9%, i.e 19.8%...?) with these results if we were to actually poll the whole membership in DVC. We'd need another 500 votes to really whittle that number down. Just an FYI. I'd love to keep this poll alive and see how close we could get...

I like this poll except there may be a lot of votes split between POLY and Contemporary since they are both on the monorail and MK. It could be read as 36% want a MK monoral resort and AK second at 24%. Maybe POLY votes would go to AK (I'm sure some percentage would), but location is huge in this market but there is no way to tell with this poll. That said, I have no problem with AK DVC if it has a big enough attraction (and I think a walkway to AK would help, a bus to everything is so annoying) and would stay there for sure, just wouldn't add on as we would for CR or POLY.

Ummmm.....well. It depends. For the smaller numbers you are going to have more than 5% error with 90% confidence. With larger numbers at that sample size, you are probably close. By the way, thats +/- 5% you are looking at. But, as a professional on this topic (business stats, surveys aren't really my thing, though - I do more process design and improvement), your sample is skewed, your survey is flawed (not all possible options are listed, as someone has said, the options make a big difference - is monorail the important feature at the Poly or is it the Poly itself). I wouldn't recommend making any huge business decisions to sink millions of dollars anyplace based on this - but its a good start on what questions to ask if you were going to design a professional survey. Oh, and make sure you are looking at proportion data in your calculation - proportions require bigger samples.

But stats is cool, isn't it?

Yep, stats are cool, crisi - I wrote statistical simulation manufacturing software for a long time (6 sigma, skewness, kurtosis -eeeee! :earseek: ).

The big thing I keep in mind is that this is a poll of DISers - self-selected (by our registration to the DIS) as being at the extreme-interest end of the population.

And this really could use drill-down questions: I voted for DL/GC, since as an Arizonan, I'd like something an hour flight from home. If, however, we'd been limited to on-site, I would have voted Polynesian; if we'd been further limited to monorail or non-monorail, I would have voted monorail.

Still, it's always interesting - thanks, ricapito, for posting it.

PS to ricapito: Tastes are funny things: I love the CR "theming" (though I'd love it if they could "Retro-fy" it like they did Tomorrowland), really dislike the GF, and the AKL does nothing for me. But hey, I like the look and feel of SSR - so there must be something wrong with me!

I agree that it seems the "majority" (being simplistic and not a true statistican) would love to see a monorail resort, whether Cont or Poly. Sounds good to me!

I voted for AKL, but would like to see it at the Ploy, too. Or Hawaii! I Love Hawaii and want to go back, but it would be wonderful if I could use points! AKL probably has more space and kids would love being near the animals.

I can agree that we are a pretty homogenous group and may represent only one facet of the DVC ownership spectrum.

And as having taken at least a few stats classes I'm aware how many variations this poll could have and how it could be made more representative of what it intended to accomplish, and how a statatician could poke holes in it easily.

But at the end of the day I'm still struck by the fact that the percentages you see listed now have changed very little, maybe by 1-2% at most, from when there were only 50 votes until now with nearly 250 votes.

It was a toss up for me between the AK and Poly so I picked the Poly.
