I'm attending a training conference for work next month in Las Vegas and I am wondering if wearing jeans would be appropriate. The confirmation states the dress code should be casual attire. Would that mean jeans are okay or would that mean more of a business casual and only khaki/chino type pants are okay. I'm okay with the business casual, but another co-worker would love to be able to wear jeans since she never gets to wear them to work.

I would err on the side of Khaki's....or maybe the dressier jeans with heels for a woman or dress shoes for a guy (no tee-shirts, sneakers, etc)

A training conference for work, I would play it safe and wear khaki slacks.

I wouldn't want to take a chance on jeans.

If it says "Casual Attire" I would think jeans would be fine. If they wanted khaki's they should have said "Business Casual".

Personally, I would play it safe with business casual unless you work for a significantly casual company. Business casual will cover just about any situation unless your training involves outdoor work.

Agree with this.

I would not go to a conference and wear jeans unless it was an outdoor ropes course.
Never know who you will meet at things like this and I would want the image in their mind when they think of me to be professional.

That was pretty much my thoughts also. It is an Annual Statement training for Statutory Accountants, etc and I'm sure there will be a lot off contact with other large insurance carriers. I don't mind wearing Khaki pants with a twin set or something. To me it is just as comfy as a pair of jeans (and sometimes more so, depending on the type of jeans). Just as long as I'm not required to wear a business suit all day.

Agreed. The only no-jeans conference I go to says "Business Casual - no jeans, please" in the brochure. The one that says "casual attire" has 90% of the audience in jeans, including most of the speakers.

This. I'd wear capri jeans and a pretty blouse with some fun, but wearable, shoes.

Jeans are fine; however, we're not talking about mom jeans or the jeans you wear to do Sunday chores. I mean very dark colored, classy, designer looking jeans which honestly look better than a lot of the ill-fitting, pleated (ugh!) khakis I've seen some people wear!

I would go with Khakis as well. It may be casual and you may find people wearing jeans but what if you are the only one that does. "Casual" in some offices means you don't wear a tie with your suit. Business casual doesn't always mean khakis either-business casual usually means dress pants and a sweater/blouse vs a suit in most of the business events I have attended. Khakis would be considered "casual", jeans are never allowed.

I agree-for a woman the nicer jeans are very dressy:)
