We are big meat eaters but I am worried because if the meat at Ohana's is dry we will not eat it. Nothing worse than dry meat.

Could you let me know what your experience was with the meat. Also what time of day did you go and was it busy or slow?

We made 7pm ADR's because I'm thinking if we go when it's busy the meat will be going out faster and not sitting around overcooking and getting dry.

Thanks

WDWO

We ate there in August of last year before they had the sausage, so I can't speak for that. However, the steak was really moist and juicy. I loved that. The turkey was very moist, also (my DH's fave). We both thought the pork was on the dry side.

All the meats had great flavor, and we loved the dipping sauces.

It's on our must-do list for next time.

Last time we ate there was 9/2003. But the meat was dry, it was crowded and we had to wait for a table even with ADR's. My DD liked the hula hoop contest though.

I haven't been to 'Ohana in a few years, but had gone two times on two different trips. Each time, the meat was dry. My favorite part of the meal was the appetizers brought out before the meat. They were very good, but the meat itself just didn't wow me. Of all the meats, I would have to say the turkey was the best. The shrimp was big and tough, steak was very dry. Because of that, I probably only ate one piece of each (enough to try it) and that was enough for me. The "dryness" factor didn't stop the men in our party from chowing down on it anyway, but I just didn't care for it.

Ooopps, edited to add: We always do very early ADRs--the earliest seating we can get. So I would say that we got some of the first meat off the grill so I can't really blame the dryness on the fact that maybe it had been sitting around.

we've eaten there 3 times and it's never been dry.

We've eaten at Ohana several times in the past and I can say that sometimes the meat has been dry, sometimes it was moist and tender. Since they changed the menu, we won't be going back though....nothing left to go for (no pineapple w/ caramel sauce).

I've always found it to be a bit too dry. We always have the earliest available reservation and are usually one of the first families seated!

We have been to Ohana twice, and will not return. Both times the meat was dry and tasteless. This is a beautiful restaurant, but at least as far as food goes, has to be the most overhyped of all the Disney establishments.

The meat was dry for us. I loved everything else, especially the shrimp. We had ADR's last Sept. for 7:00 and were still eating when the fireworks went off at MK. That was great! We were by a window. We're going back the same time this year!

Had early seating. Pork was DRY, steak and turkey were wonderful, shrimp was good but got tired of flagging down and begging for more than two. Have not had the sausage, but not planning on returning so won't know.

The food was a little disapointing to us last year. So we haven't made ADRs for this year. I hate it because I loved the atmosphere, kids loved the games, loved the salad and chicken wings, but that's just not enough reason to go back.

I had read so many great reviews on here and I just didn't love it as much as I wanted to. :confused3 The meat was dry, the potatoes and veggies were good, but nothing special. I didn't care for the banana bread pudding. The wings and salad were awesome! The shrimp were good, but so messy so I didn't eat very many.

I hate dry meat too, and our 'Ohana meat was nice and juicy! MMM!!

Juicy! Even after we asked for the steak to be well done, it was still juicy :thumbsup2

We were there on Oct 2005 and was the best meal we had on our ten day trip! Meat was moist and flavorful. Already have my adr for Sept.

I couldn't vote since I have had it all at ohana over the years--dry, tender, moist, too rare/bloody, too tough--the works! Not to worry though, let them know as they arrive with the skewers what you prefer, and remind them, remind them, remind them. Also, if the meat on your plate is not to your liking, simply ask for more/different pieces. They are very accommodating. They always ask us how many pieces of which meat we want, and I have often spoken up and asked for "more well done meat" or whatever. The more specific you can be, the more likely it is that you will be satisfied and get what you want.

TBH, I would say that I find the toughness/dryness to be more in regards to the quality and cut of the meat, and not so much related to how long it sits around cooking. The place is always hopping, so I don't think much of it sits around for long.

We went this past December around 7:00 pm and it wasn't too crowded. The meats were fine. The only problem for us was it was a little too loud for us at the end of a busy park day. The children were cute, but the lady constantly blaring through the microphone got old fast. We decided not to make reservations there this time.

Hope this helps!

It's a very different experience depending on whether or not the woman or the man is the MC of the childrens games. The man plays the ukelele and sings, and only speaks enough to tell them what to do...the woman on the other hand (so sorry I don't know their names!) talks a lot more. :) I was used to the man for so long it was odd to have her do it on our last two trips, but I am warming up to her style a bit more now. :) She also teaches the kids a hula dance which the man did not do. (IME) Overall he was just a little more....low key.

We have never been to 'Ohona's and had the meat be dry. It's one of our favorite restuarants at WDW!!! We have to eat there on every trip!!

We went and each skewer of meat they brought to us was charred and dry. It was awful! I love the whole atmosphere so want to give it another chance. Maybe it depends on who is cooking that night?! :firefight
