Poll: Synthroid Dosages

Inspired by Bambii's thread on thyroid problems I have created a poll to see how many of us take synthroid and what the average dosage is.

My dosage is 200mcg, but not of Synthroid. I have to take Levothroid. 23 yrs ago when I was 1st put on it, they gave me Synthroid & I gained 20 lbs in 2 weeks! (on 1500 calories) Although it sounded weird, the doctor said he came across 6 other juvenile diabetics with the same reaction in a 12 month period. He no longer prescribes Synthroid to diabetics.

That is strange. I've never heard that before. 20 lbs. in two weeks! When the Dr. switched your medicine did the weight come off as quickly?

I take the 50 or 1/2 of the yellow ones! I think the Dr. is going to up my dosage though cause these don't seem to be helping much.

Sorry - I was offline most of yesterday as I came down with a really bad cold.

Anyway, NO! The weight gain stopped and later I was able to increase my calorie count without gaining...but I've never lost weight since unless I stick to an extremely rigorous diet/exercise program...even when my dosage is too high.

I've often wondered if it's because it's my TSH that's messed up instead of the "regular" problem. Anyone else with the TSH problem find that the weight didn't drop off when you started the meds?

More likely, it's because of the large amounts of insulin I need to control my blood sugar, since insulin is a growth hormone.
