For those you who eat in the villas, where do you purchase your food? We're going in June and we're debating renting points. I imagine we would eat breakfast in the villa and then everything else out. Where do you buy food if you don't have a car and your only method of transportation is the WDW bus?

TIA!

We usually always eat breakfast in our villa. Its a great way to fill up the kids before we head to the park. Most importantly, we make our own coffee...the stuff in the parks taste bad :stir:

So our vote is 25% :thumbsup2

We use a towncar service to pick us up and take us back to the airport, so we stop at Publix to get our groceries for our stay.

If you can't do that, all the DVC resorts have a little grocery store located in a corner of their gift shops. The prices are higher than what you would pay at a regular grocery store, but they aren't that bad.

We eat breakfast in the room, and probably during a week long stay, 3 dinners. After a day at the parks, or in the pool, it's sometimes hard to get the 3 dds excited about going out again. It's never anything elaborate, pizza, spaghetti, etc. We've also made sandwhiches to enjoy by the pool.

DVC has changed our vacation habits. I can't stand being someplace that doesn't have a kitchen or washer/dryer. We were at the JW Marriott in Oahu and the resort was stunning, but there were at least two nights that we ended up doing room service, and one night that we went out to get KFC. I would have loved to have had a kitchen there. The girls were exhausted from swimming all day, and getting the motivated to go out to eat was tough.

I voted 100% of the time because we are a lot closer to that than 75%. We usually only eat out for breakfast once, with a character breakfast and always take a lunch time break back to the villa. The majority of time we eat dinner in the room too. This is due to not caring to eat out for an entire week and DH cannot eat beef, shellfish, or peanuts, and our DD is gluten free.

I voted 25% but it is probably higher. We tend to eat breakfast in. I do cook some breakfasts like french toast & bacon, eggs, etc... We also have cereal. I also cook a couple dinners in because the children's menu at most sitdown restaurants are pitful. My children need to eat healthier things besides pizza & chicken nuggets. Also, they need to eat veggies or they will get constipated. You know like broccoli or green beans instead of french fries. Also, we'll have a couple lunches in on the days we don't visit the parks. Simple stuff like sandwiches. My goal on my next trip is to try and eat 50% of our meals in. Cooking really isn't hard for me. I like to cook and I usually use a Rachael Ray 30 minute meal on trips. Her meals are great!

On our last trip I used Wegoshop.com and they brought the food to me. I bought tons of bottled water and froze them for the parks. It was much cheaper than the little mini-marts they have the resorts and you can get more fresh ingredients like apples, bananas, stuff to make salads. But if you are only planning on breakfast in the room I would just bring your cereal in your lugguage and just buy the milk at the resort. YOu can also buy bread & eggs to make french toast. Also, they sell fruit cups and fresh fruit.

We'll be going on our first lengthy DVC vacation in two weeks. Our previous stays have been short enough not to want to bring food in other than snacks. For this trip, I've planned on 3 breakfast ADRs, and all others in the room. We'll probably eat our big meals 50% in the parks or resorts, and 50% cooked at OKW. I don't mind cooking, and we are not planning on spending as much time in the parks....more relaxing at the resort.....so a little light cooking is fine with me!

Why buy DVC if you don't use the kitchen. I'm not talking about a full blown meal, but cereal in the morning, BB&J for sandwiches or something quick and easy for dinner. We eat out at LEAST once a day, mostly dinners. We like the ability to make a home cooked meal (quikey version) every once in a while. Also, eating breakfast everyday at Disney is expensive - a box of cherios goes a long way! :teeth:
