Our next trip to WDW will be in October. My two daughters will be 3 3/4 and 8 and will have the luxury of using a tandem jog stroller for the duration of the stay. Although my younger one likes to walk and move about, my older one likes to conserve energy for other uses (rides, rides, shows, and more rides). I have learned to just flow with her desire to sit and be pushed as she is much more happy, less fatigued, and enjoys herself more. She does not, however, have this luxury at home or on other vacations. Just WDW as there is so much walking and both myself and my wife are marathon park goers. I really don't care if others think it is too old, I just want to have a good time and not be constantly nagging her to keep up with us (or deal with a tired girl for a good chunk of the day). So I would recommend you put your pride aside and let them be as comfortable as they can be so they can get the most out of the experience. If that takes a stroller, then so be it...

Interesting post!

I feel the same as you.......7 year old twins. What will keep me from the stroller is

1) their father will think I am crazy!!!

2) their 9 and 11 year old brothers will probably want one too!!!!!

(actually sometimes I want one too!)

My son was 7 when I got a stroller for him. It was 3/4 of the way thru our trip, and I finally got it one day at MGM. Was I ever glad that I did. It cut down on a LOT of stress. I wish I'd done it sooner.

I guess I am a mean mom! I made my daughter walk at 6 and again at 8. I figure if she is too tired to walk, then she is too tired to go on the rides. We told her if she wanted to ride the "big rides" (tot, rrc, sm) then she had to be a big kid and walk. I think she would have been embarrassed to get in the stroller. We always stay on-site so once she gets tired, it is back to the hotel. My twins were 3 1/3 on our last trip and we used strollers for them. They did make it a few times without on short trips in to the parks. I would love to be stroller free next trip!

We actually use 2 strollers. One for the baby and we rent a double for the other two. My dd will be turning 7 in May and my ds will almost be 4. I love to have them in the stroller, that way I know where there are and I don't have to worry about them getting lost. When we go in the summer it gets so hot and they can walk so slooooooooooow:p With them in the stroller we can get to where we want to go much faster and they aren't crabby from being tired. When they are happy I'm happy:D It just helps prevent those WDW meltdowns. I'm not sure if we are going to rent a double stroller this summer?

My 6yo daughter, who is very independent, very active, loves the "big rides" at WDW, and is 48" tall, still rides in a stroller while at WDW. She asks to ride---she's not at all embarrassed. I rent a double stroller for her and her 3yo brother and it works out wonderfully. Now, we have done MGM together (just my daughter and myself) without a stroller, but MK, AK, and especially Epcot, entail so much walking, I would never make her "tough it out" when we have the option of using a stroller and she chooses that option. :)

RaiseAStar... I agree completely. My son was a bit uncomfortable at first.. but soon shoved it off.. he was so happy to be enjoying the park.. and not killing himself doing it. He rides all the big rides too.. but this just makes it so much more enjoyable for him, so I figure why not. You can't do it anywhere else.. so we take advantage of it. And he loses none of the magic because he's overtired.. has sore feet.. or is just plain too hot to walk any further.

My dd will be close to 6 when we go in June and she will be in her own stroller, as will her 16 month old brother (obviously...;) ). She is tiny though. So, I don't feel like I have a big kid in a stroller. She is on par with the average 3.5 yr old, not quite 40" (boy are we pulling for 40" - she will be going to the dr to get her height check about a week before we go, want to make sure she can ride all the rides she wants to!) Using a stroller with her, just makes the trip easier. Especially in the evening, if she falls asleep - like during e-ticket, it's no big deal, she can sleep. We also have this cool plastic stroller cover, that can go over the stroller when it rains and it will keep her totally dry.

My ds who's 4 rode in a stroller last week when we where in WDW, and when my DD was 6 we rented a stroller a few days. She was not embarrassed to be in the stroller, the poor thing has blister on her feet.

We will be on vacation in April with my DD'S ages 8 mos and 5 years. I purchased an attachment for my stroller that lets the 5 year old either sit or stand while you push the stroller. I wish there was something I could add for me to use!;)

Say it loud, say it proud!!:D .

We rent the double stroller for our 4 and 7yo and it was the best 15.00 I spent at WDW. I will keep doing it until i can't get them in it;) . For us it makes the trip so much more enjoyable.

I have 5 yr old twins and their strollers will be with us. I do bring two strollers, since sometimes they like to have "private"" time with me or dad.

My kids are now almost 18 & 20 yo so it has been many years since strollers were part of our WDW vacation, but once they were 3 & 5 yo they REFUSED to ride in a stroller. They felt as though they did not use a stroller at home so they were not going to use one at WDW either. I tried my darnest to get them to use a stroller while at WDW but they wanted no part of it. It certainly slowed everything down with them walking and we had to make frequent stops to rest but they never complained. I say, if your kids are willing to ride in a stroller, go for it! It will certainly make going from point A to point B a lot faster. I must say though, I am amazed when I see some children 6 and above in strollers, they are all scrunched up to fit in the stroller and do not look very comfortable, but heck if it works for them and their families more power to them!

Just went in Feb with 3 girls 9,7, and 5 and the rented double stroller worked for us!

Usually the 5 and 7 used, but sometimes the 9 sat at their feet too!

This is why I like it....

Keeps tired kids happy, keeps fair kids out of direct sun, can eat and walk at the same time, have a place to put all of our junk, don't have to keep track of 3 kids in the crowd, can get from point A to point Z, especially when backtracking for fast passes, MUCH quicker.

I think any age is fine, if the family is fine with it.

I had a very small 7 year old son with some mild disabilities. I allowed him to use a stroller. By the next year though I didn't. We just moved at a slower pace and took breaks. But if it works for the family to have an older child of any age be wheeled, who am I to complain. I actually thought my son might say something about wanting a stroller but he didn't. We did make sure he had done some walking before we went.

Our oldest dd was 6 for our last trip, and we wound up renting a stroller for her. She was fine in the mornings, but in the evenings, the stroller sure came in handy! She is very small for her age, and she's not a 'night person' by any stretch of the imagination...she just got too tired at night to be walking around..constant complaining that her legs hurt (even with mid-afternoon breaks). We are going in May, and she'll be 8 years old for this trip...I sure HOPE she outgrew the stroller by now, but who knows...
