Poll: How many took the upgrade to SSR or OKW?

I didn't vote because I was not fortunate enough to make the e-mail list, but I still have my fingers crossed. However, what is confusing me is that at least 29 rooms (by voters) have been upgraded (and I am sure that people talking on the dis boards about it are a small percentage) is that I don't see any of the rooms opening up on the disney site. If I check space from Aug 26 to Sep 03, the only hotel available is SSR. Do you think they are holding rooms and then going to release a batch at once?

I think they way over booked the values and now had to figure out a way to get out of it, We are at SSR in two 1br villas!!!! 8/26-9/1 with free dining

I keep seeing upgrades posted for the week of 8/26....just wondering if anyone later in Sept. has received an upgrade offer yet????

DSIL will be at POP 9/7-13 and I would LOVE to see her get this upgrade offer! She is beside herself with the free dining, I can't imagine if she lucked into the upgrade!!

I choose OKW because of the square footage...OKW rooms are about 200 more square feet...plus it seemed more themed than SSR....but it really did not matter to me...I would have took either one....

I would love to know too. Does anyone know if you can see fireworks from OKW or SSR? If you can which section is the best to stay in to see them. Thanks!!!!

You had to be booked at a value during the week of 8-26/9-1.They said they were overbooked and needed to upgrade some of us to free up the rooms. We were told it was done randomly and you had to get a special email with a code attached to upgrade to OKW or SSR!

This is very upsetting to me!! I thought, even with the free dining, that this was a slower time to go to the World!! Having to offer upgrades because of overbooking is NOT good news for me!!

it was a slower time until Disney offered free dining. Which is the reason they offered it.

I know that most people say that this time its the slower time but I would have to disagree. We went at the end of september last yr(also free dinning) and found it to be very crowded (I could fill you in on the details but they may scare you ) We have also went after thanksgiving and had found that time to be less crowded. With all that said we are still going this yr and were able to get the upgrade.

Sorry that you didn't find a choice for "no", but the poll was about how many people upgraded to each resort..not whether or not it was offered to you.

Maybe it depends on which week you go. For the last two years we have gone Labor Day weekend and the week following, and it's been nearly empty. There were many, many times we went on rides as the only riders and even a couple of shows, we were the only people in the audience. We have pictures where we were the ONLY people on the streets. My dad actually found it a little creepy that it was so empty! We go 2 or 3 times a year and early September is by far the least crowded I have ever seen. Maybe it picks up again later in the month due to the MNSSHP. I might have to check out the post-Thanksgiving week though, I've heard from others also that it's a great time crowd-wise, and I've never seen the holiday decorations.

I can't wait, only 2 1/2 more months!!

We went the last wk that free dinning was offered 9-20 throught 10-1 and it was the start of the F&WF and MNSSHP was going on.We stayed at POP and one nite(EMH at MK) we waited over an hour for the bus.The line was so backed up it went past all the ques for other resort buses. It was a mad house.Then the started sending more busess out like crazy.Maybe it was just our timming. When we were at the parks most of rides like Soaring were over a 70 min wait.No way would I call that walk on.Needless to say we are going at the beginning of september this yr and heard it was less crowded. Just thought I would share my expeirence.

M2DDs: Wow that's crazy busy! The beginning of September should definitely be less crowded. I have never had long waits like that. I have sometimes had to wait about 30 mins for a bus, but that's usually because I just missed the one in front of us. I hope you have a great trip and I hope it's not too crowded! With free dining becoming more popular, who knows how it'll be this year? But based on my experience the last 2 years, early September is a great time to go.
