Poll: How many took the upgrade to SSR or OKW?

I know that many of us are wondering how many DISers actually upgraded from a value to SSR or OKW as a result of the email on 6/7. I thought this might help us figure it out.

I got upgraded from asmu to a ssr studio!! I will be at asmu for 2 nights (8/24-8/25) and ssr studio for 8 nights (8/26-9/3) with fdp!! I'm still trying to get a one bedroom but I am happy with a studio!!

We are right with you as far as the split stay... we'll be at ASMo on the 25th and then to SSR till the 2nd... gonna be a strange transition between the two...

Any idea how it works to get from the AS resorts to SSR. It sounds like there will be alot of us doing it. I have never had to change resorts before.

Lauraann-I love that you clip you put at the bottom of the page. I kept mine in my e-mail so everytime I open my mail I get the feeling I had when I read it. (Thats me on that cloud) I'm glad this poll was started I would love to see what my fellow diser are staying and why.So this is why I picked OKW.
We live in the midwest and don't have any palm tree's. I have never been able to visit a tropical island and so I thought OKW would give me that feel. I also had to make a fast dissision in order to secure the 1 bdroom so I didn't have time to think about it.
I see that most people picked SSR so far. I was wondering why. I don't know very much about either of them.

I picked SSR because I live 30 minutes from the REAL Saratoga Springs and I wanted to check it out. Plus because it was newer. I have heard OKW's 1 bdrms are HUGE though - but it is just my son and I this time and we don't really need a ton of room - but the 1 bdrm we got will be so awesome!

We are doing the P&P Party on the 28th.

We are going to the P and P party on 8/24. We will be staying offsite for two nights before our SSR part of the trip begins on 8/26. We went to the party in February and loved it!

I don't know much about them either (but am learning rapidly!) but I picked SSR because after living in Florida for 15 years, OKW just doesn't look vacationey to me - it looks like everyone's grandma's house I grew up visiting in FL. SSR, on the other had, has a different look and feel that I have not experienced and is more appealing to me. Also OKW only has elevators in 3 buildings and my brother just had a knee replacement and I have pelvic arthritis, and I didn't want to risk not getting ground floor rooms. And my parents love their breakfast in the resort, but OKW doesn't have a CS "food court" type restaurant, but SSR does. So those are the reasons behind our choice.

We are going to the P&P Party on 9/3.

We were given a 1 BR at OKW. DH really doesn't like the look of SSR. We live in Upstate NY about 20 mins from the real SS. So we picked OKW. I can't wait.

I'm still in shock...on what was supposed to be a budget trip we are staying at AKL (thank you 40%off pin) five nights 8/21-8/26 then moving over to 1 BR villa @ OKW for 10 nights ($82 a night) 8/26-9/4 with free dining.

If you are moving between resorts, let the Front Desk at the first resort know that you need baggage assistance to move to the other resort. They will come to your room, collect your luggage and move it. You will not get your luggage until after 3pm or later, so plan accordingly.

After you get a room at the new resort and its after 3pm you can call Bell Services there for luggage delivery.

They you take busses to a park or downtown Disney and bus to the new resort. We have found all this very time consuming and a hassle to do.

Personally due to the fact Disney is bad about luggage delays and lost luggage I would spend the money for a taxi, it will be less than $20 and worth it.

Once at the new resort if your room is not ready you can store it there. But at least then you know it is actually at the resort.

This is so interesting, thanks for setting it up! Is there any way you could add the free dining weeks as a second part of the poll so we can keep track of for which weeks people are getting the upgrades? It would be so exciting if we start seeing some upgrades show up for other weeks, too. Just an idea. Thanks for doing the poll!

I didn't vote because I was not fortunate enough to make the e-mail list, but I still have my fingers crossed. However, what is confusing me is that at least 29 rooms (by voters) have been upgraded (and I am sure that people talking on the dis boards about it are a small percentage) is that I don't see any of the rooms opening up on the disney site. If I check space from Aug 26 to Sep 03, the only hotel available is SSR. Do you think they are holding rooms and then going to release a batch at once?

We chose OKW because of the tropical look. We live in Virginia and want that laid back tropical feel. Since we are on Free Dining, the food court made no difference to us. We did Free Dining in September last year for the first time, and there was so much food we didn't need a food court for anything but mug refills. We brought oatmeal bars for breakfast to even out all of that heavy food later in the day. We wound up using most of our snack credits for stuff to take home.
I do like the idea of being able to take leftovers back to the villa and heat up for breakfast. That way I don't feel "obliged" to clean my plate at dinner! I find even the reduced sized meals on the DDP too much for me. We made all of our reservations except for Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic package for after 7 PM, so we will have leisurely dinners and then head back to the villa afterwards.
This trip is going to be so fun!
