My Dh thinks I plan trips that are longer than normal and wants to know what other people consider a normal reasonable length trip. Just curious how long others consider an average trip...Thanks!

since we only go on 1 vacation each year and sometimes it is 2 or more years between trips - our trips are for 10 - 13 days - sometimes more depending on how much time off work I get. I usually tend to think that our trips are long compared to other peoples. They are not long enough for me though because I never want to leave.:rotfl:

This year we went for 5 nights/ 6 days. We felt very rushed! Next year, we are going for 10 nights/ 11 days. Hopefully, we will enjoy it!

The math teacher in me demands that I mention: people on the DIS do not exactly make up a random sampling of Disney visitors!!! I'm guessing that your answers will be a bit longer than if you were to survey random people passing through the Orlando airport!

But ours was 6 nights, 7 days.

LOL I had the same thought :) But somehow our WDW trips get longer....

Our first trip was 9 days/8 nights. We just booked a second trip for 10 nights.

I don't think this represents the "average" trip length, but it just makes sense for us. We keep our food costs to a minimum and the tickets are about the same price as for a trip half that length, so the price of the hotel is the only real price difference. Both trips will be at a value resort, so for about $500 we can have a longer, relaxing vacation. The length also allowed us to do what we wanted, go at whatever pace was good for the kids, take lots of naps, etc. If we were there for only 4 or 5 days, we would have felt that we needed to be in the parks as much as possible to "get our money's worth".

As we are from Canada and it is more expensive to travel we tend to stay a little longer. Our last trip was 10 days, our upcoming trip is for 2 weeks.

We actually fluctuate between 7-10 days. We tried it once for 2 weeks and we realized that it was far too long. We quickly became very jaded and your sense of reality becomes really screwed up. We sat on the porch of Tom Sawyer's island watching a bird for about 20 minutes trying to guess whether it was real or not! :lmao:

So now we keep it to about 8-9 days average but depending on our trip will go up to 10. :)

Our "standard" trip was 9 nights until this year. This year we did 16 nights. Next year we are doing 14 nights, and in 2010 we will do at least 14 nights.

When we were staying 9 nights we were taking more than one trip each year - the 9 nighter and maybe 2 more trips for 4 nights each.

Our total number of nights per year hasn't really changed, we are just doing them all in one block now because airfare is so ridiculous.

We did 6 nights/7 days and we weren't ready to leave. There was soooo much that we didn't do! We hope to go in 2010 for probably 8 or 9 nights, depending on the school calendar. We don't travel anywhere else and can only go once the money is saved to pay for the trip. Like a previous poster said the hotel cost is really the only significant difference in price- we eat cheap meals too.

We usually spend at least 10 nights or more when we vacation, whether its Disney or anyplace else.

Our past trips to Disney always were from Sun-Sat, but our last trip and this coming trip we will be there 9 nights.

We prefer 9-10 nights in Disney. One week just isn't enough to see all we want to in the parks as well as have a water park day as well as have a just relaxing day at the pool. Like a PP said, the travel to-from expenses are the same no matter the days and tickets aren't that much more for more days. We stay in value and watch our food $ so we can have a relaxing, efficient vacation. We've done shorter and missed out on stuff we wanted to do so with all it takes to plan a vacation and get the time off from work, it's just better to go a little longer in our opinion!

We are going for 14 days in January!

Last years' trip was 7 days.

It just depends, but we normally do stay in a condo so rentals are weekend to weekend.

Dawn

We usually go down on a Thursday or Friday and stay till the following Sunday.

OK, I answered 8 or more days, but I think I should have answered differently. The longest stay is 7 days. However, when we cruise, we usually stop by to and/ or from the DCL at WDW to just say "hi". Therefore our vaction days are 8 to 10 days (with crusie).

Ours are always 8 or more.

We've got two trips booked for 2009...

January: 8 nights
July: 11 nights

Can't wait!!:dance3:

I wish I could afford a 8 day + vac to disney. Although I May we spent 1/3 of our time in Daytona Beach 3 days and 5 1/2 days in WDW the longest vacation I ever been on.
