Poll: How far do you travel?

In another thread discussing the difference between the "vibe of the parks", it mentioned that more DL visitors are locals. I am curious about the demographic of Disers location.

We're located in Oregon near I-5 at exit 282.
If we were to drive, it would take at least 16-18 hours straight through.
Now when I plan for a DLR trip, I look for the least expensive flights I can find.

We haven't made the trip by car for a number of years now.
I try to go once a year.
For our Oct trip I have flights from PDX to SNA round trip for about $165each person.

I live in Arizona, so, theoretically I *could* drive.

I choose to fly because between the cost of gas, the cost of parking, and wear & tear to my car, flying is cheaper and easier.

Plus, I don't much like driving, so my Disney trips are a vacation from that

Arizona too! But I drive! Not because of paying for flights. But after driving to the airport, checking in, security, flight, bus to hotel ... I think it's probably easier than flying. Plus flying makes me want to vomit ( & Disney rides ....lol!)

One way distance for us is 2700 km (1800 miles). We drive in the summer and usually take at least 2 weeks. We fly in the winter or for shorter trips such as a 4-day weekend or such.

Our trips usually try to incorporate San Diego as well. My favorite city!

ETA: the 2+ weeks is the total length of the holiday, not the amount of time it takes to drive down! lol.

I miss the place so much. Unfortunately it's looking like we won't be back until we go over at Christmas time 2016 for my 40th birthday.

From San Francisco. So Disneyland could be a day-thing with no overnight if I flew down to SoCal. Driving takes about 6-8 hours.

6-7 hours depending on traffic. We are in the Easy Bay Area. We always drive. Such a boring drive down the 5, but we feel that even though flights are little over an hour, the amount of time it takes to get to the airport early enough, plus wait for bags after landing, and then drive to DL, it would take about that same amount of time. Plus, we take a lot of stuff! And I don't really want to travel with car seats, so maybe with my boys are older. =)

I live in Utah, so it is about a 9-10 hour drive. I typically choose to drive vs flying, because I like having my car and going to the beach and visiting some places in L.A. as well.

Local!!! I am only 10 miles away, so my drive is about 15-20 minutes.

We drive. We are in Stockton. We have started taking 99 we drive from Stockton to just outside Fresno for our first stop at a place called bravo family farms which has something for everyone to do stretch their legs, play and eat. Then drive all the way to Grapevine stop and get gas at laval rd and the. Get to Anaheim. We make it in about 6 hours depending on who's with us. I get too bored on 5.

We drive. We live near Las Vegas and it takes us 3 1/2-4 hours. Easy drive and close enough for us to go regularly, yet far enough that we aren't going every weekend and going broke in the process- Hehe!!

We fly from Hawaii so we travel 2500+ miles to get to DL! It's a good thing because if we lived nearby, there would be no telling how many times I'd try to get to the parks...

We're in the Palm Springs area (Palm Desert) and roughly 2 hours away. Every time we go to the parks we stay at least one night on-property. It allows us the most flexibility and enjoyment of the resort.

I'm 3 hours up the 99. Usually it's an overnite trip with my DGS 5 in our motorhome. But I have also been board and hungry for a good turkey dinner so I'll drive down, eat at Flo's and head home. Call me crazy.

It is way cheaper to drive than to fly for my wife and I and our three kids.

We just got home from our month away. We are not far from the US border (about 12km), so we started early (4:41am) and we got to Corning California to stop for the night about 7:00pm. We even stopped at the Woodburn Oregon premium outlets for 2 hours.

The next day we were up and on the road by 8:00am and checked into the Park Vue Inn for 3:00 and in the park for 4:15.

Our previous trip we went from home to Stockton, Ca, but that is one very very long day.

I live on the East Coast now but grew up in Los Angeles County (so I was a local for many years). My sister now lives about 20 minutes from DL and my parents live in San Diego. We try to hit Disneyland any time we fly to SoCal for a family event. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
