If it only had a bigger pool area. The C design really encloses what can be done inside the two wings. I would have widened them / made it more like the building angle of BCV around its pool. Does not seem to have a water slide for the kids and like others I'm not a big fan of tall buildings.

Maybe there will be a roof area people can go on to watch the fireworks similar to the Contemporary off the California Grill.

I like it a lot even if it is taller than the existing tower. More people can get the fab view of Wishes and the rest of us can enjoy Bay Lake and the nighttime enteratainment of the electric light water parade. The first time we saw that was on our honeymoon at the Poly in 1982. We returned from dinner and our friends had some champagne delivered to our room. We walked out on the deck, popped the champagne and boom, the music started and lights went on the parade. We thought it was all for us. I love that hoaky water parade. :yay: :Pinkbounc

Don't like it.
Much too tall. And it reminds me of "Outrigger Waikiki", not what I'm looking for in a DVC resort. 5-6 stories would be best. If they simply rebuilt the North Wing footprint to DVC specs at that height, I would be happy. No doubt it could be even better, but this ain't it.

I would like to see MK views AND Bay Lake views. But the north- and south-facing views are kinda pointless.

Well, in my book it has two strikes against it....First, it's another "hotel style" DVC and second it's a high rise. If I want to vacation that way, I'll go to NYC!

I am one who when I go on vacation likes to feel on vacation. If I wanted to feel like I was at home I would stay home. So saying that I was not too interested in OKV or SSR because of the relaxed feeling. Enjoy the pace of the Boardwalk area so a MK area resort would be high on my list. Of course my non-DH likes the quiet of golf for a week. Guess after almost 40 years we have learned to give and take. He gives the money and I take the grandkids on my Disney trips.

We did get started on HHI with a small contract of 25 points and when it closes will request more points. I like Savanaha GA so we can spend a couple of days there, for me, and for him a couple at HH.

Have to say this is so much fun reading everyones posts on what they think will happen with the new DVC resort.

It has to fit on the same place that the North wing is located at now. if they made it wider then it would interfere with the tower Contemporary views and I am pretty sure DVC agreed not to do this.

they got as many rooms as they possible could plus a nice size pool in the same space as the current wing building.

Good point Erik! What would be the view request?
MK,
Bay lake,
Pool/marina/South wing/WL(south)
backstage/Monorail area (north)
CRV rooms (inside the 'C')

I would really hate the last :sad2:

I voted yes, but it is not an ethusiatic yes. Of all the hotels not named All-Star, CR is to me the ugliest. I was hoping that such a big project on the monrail line would not be at the CR, but a new better themed building. Having said that, and putting it in context with the existing building, it is a good design to go along with CR. I always though that CR looked a little silly by itself. Perhaps in this context, it will be a more impressive area.

I voted yes, but it's not the most appealing building I've seen of all the Disney resorts... but I guess it goes with the look of CR.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Voted no. Looks like any other concrete hotel on the beach--absolutely nothing special about it, other than the location. I think the tower is ugly too, and I'm not sure what you could have built to go with that thing, but this ain't it. I would have liked to have seen something with a little more imagination. Maybe some kind of cool disappearing waterline pool, that would blend into the hotel. All that being said, it will be a huge success.

Just a thought. Are we absolutely certain this is to be the design? Wishful thinking on my part.

BOOO--

I voted no.

Well folks...you wont be racing against me at the 7 month window for that.

( meanwhile, I will have better chances at BWV so I vote YES to the idea! lol :teeth: )

I voted no. As discussed here and on the other threads, the shape is too much of a "C". If they were to straighten it out a bit, creating more MK views, more lake views, and less "you neighbor across the way views". But then again, if the straighten the building out, it won't be a "C" for Contemporary! :rotfl:

Adding a DVC at a resort so unique as the Contemporary is a very difficult task. That concept drawing looks like a very fine effort. I never did like the garden wing additions nor the convention center addition as neither really worked with the original concept.

How much I like or dislike this resort will have a lot to do with what the pool is like. If it's an amazing, Stormalong-Bay-type pool, my kids will be very interested. Otherwise...we'd rather have the extra space at OKW or beautiful landscaping at SSR.

Doesn't anybody think there will be a parking problem if they add that many more rooms to the CR? As it is now the parking lot can fill up.
