What were the best and worst dishes you had on your cruise?
Here's mine:

Highs:
PALO Lobster Papardelle--want to cruise again just to eat this!!!
Lumiere's Grand Marnier Souffle
Lumiere's Shrimp with Feta Cheese sauce
Animator's Palate Asian flavored Beef Tenderloin (don't remember exact name)
Lumiere's (Was this Captain's gala?) Banana Bread Pudding
Mickey Ice Cream Bars with the Sprinkles

Lows:
Corn on the cob! I had it both at Parrot Cay and at Cookie's and it was inedibly overcooked. Big disappointment because I love Corn on the Cob!
Lumiere's Beef Tenderloin - tasted like pot roast
Giant Chocolate Chip cookie from room service - I think it needed more butter teehee!

Must have:
Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes from Animator's Palate

Skip:
Chicken at Cookies BBQ. Very dry!

This is too subjective a question.....so many people have different likes and dislikes when it comes to food, especially as meals can be cooked a bit differently each time...so that piece of tenderloin may be perfect sometimes to some people.

What you may hate, I may like and vice versa!

My #1 cannot miss on a Disney cruise is the chocolate souffle from Palo.

Here's why food is subjective -

This is not good in our opinion. Much prefer the Grand Marnier souffle instead!

Exactly, and I agree with you. My DH thinks I am crazy, but I ordered the Grand Marnier soufflé one night because there was nothing else I wanted, our servers said it was really good. They brought it out, I wasn't hungry but I tried it, and I ate the WHOLE thing. lol. I told DH that I liked it better than the Chocolate one at Palo and I am a total chocoholic. Other than that, and the chocolate soufflé at Palo, there really isn't any dessert that I care for on the Disney cruise.

Yes, totally subjective but I will bite (pun intended!) and respond...

We have sailed only on the Magic and Wonder (Dream, here I come in October!), so these dishes are pretty much crossovers to both ships (and may be found on the Dream class).

These are my favorites, and I have also included the dishes I enjoyed during my pre-vegetarian days:
Chocolate Amaretto Indulgence - Palo dessert
Mozzarella and Plum Tomatoes - Palo appetizer
Beef Tenderloin Palo (gorgonzola sauce on the side) - Palo entree
Potato Gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce - Palo entree
The Buccaneer's Sun-Ripened Pineapple - Pirates menu appetizer
Rum Barbossa - Pirates menu dessert
Fresh Fruit Cocktail with Orange Blossom Honey - Captain's Gala menu appetizer
Fettuccine with Parmesan Crusted Chicken - Captain's Gala menu entree
Chocolate Decadence - Til We Meet Again menu dessert
Grand Marnier Souffle - Lumiere's/Triton's dessert
Double Fudge Cake with Caramel Orange Sauce - Animator's Palate dessert
Cold Cream of Mango and Papaya - Parrot Cay appetizer
(Obviously I have a sweet tooth!)

Only one thing really stands out that I did not care for in the slightest bit...
Mushroom Stuffed Pasta in Vegetable Broth - Lumiere's entree

Loved
Steak on the Grill from SB

Hated
Chicken Soup from room service - tasted like it was made with sea water it was soooo very salty

I absolutely loved the strawberry sundae on the dream

I have not found anything I would not order again, however, I already know what I don't like, so I won't order it, Chocolate and Grand Marnier Soufles. not for me. I was unimpressed with my mushroom risotto and my shrimp appetizers on the Magic in 2005, but I have had both on the Wonder and they were both excellent every time.

All that being said, the Steak Sandwich from room service on the Wonder............well lets just say we ordered it 2 times in 5 days last year and wil do so again next month. Truely one of the best steak sandwiches I have ever had.

Edited to ad, the Mac and Cheese from room service was the WORST, even a huge bowl of bacon added to it did not help.

But as said before, to each their own, some will like what others will not.

The Mango soup!

I'm not a soup person, and I'm not a huge mango person, but this was listed as an appetizer in the Royal Palace lunch menu. It had a mint foam topping.

It was out of this world delicious!!!

Our server even stayed around to see my reaction to trying the soup. He said most people have the same reaction.

Fun thread!
I hope more pitch in their thoughts. Personally my favorites on the ship are often the soups. I love the cream of chicken along with others, ESP strawberry.

A good appetizer? Fish nuggets.

I agree the corn on the Cobb was flavorless and over cooked.

Oh! I totally forgot about the Strawberry Soup on the embarkation day lunch buffet! YUM-O-LA!

Is the strawberry smoothie at goofys galley the same thing?

Oh I meant what were your favorite and least favorite things you ate! So of course please offer your opinions!!:cool1:

Here is my list:

Love/Crave :)

Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes (AP) I ate this on both of my cruises and hoping I will get it at least once on the Fantasy in a few weeks!

Arugula Leaves and Grilled Vegetable Salad
Topped with sliced Beef Tenderloin, Marjoram, Bacon, and Ranch Dressing (AP) THIS!!! Was my favorite dish on the whole ship !!! perfect light(er) dinner choice and so fresh and tasty. The grilled veggies paired perfectly with the meat ... seriously drooling thinking about it.

At Palo brunch I really wasn't hugely impressed with most of the "buffetish" options - they were all fine but honestly IMO nothing to rave about ... but I did enjoy the chicken parm over risotto - probably the best risotto I have ever had.

Could do without:
Pearl-Barley Cakes with Shallots, Leeks, and Rosemary (EG) too much salt - otherwise the dish had great potential !

What were the best and worst dishes you had on your cruise?

Giant Chocolate Chip cookie from room service - I think it needed more butter teehee!

Teeeheee we love these!!! On our second cruise we smartened up and ordered a plateful each night before bed - and pizza :)

Well I can't remember the proper menu names but my faves are:

Lumiere's: Grand Marnier Souffle
I think this is my favorite dessert on the Magic.

Palo: Gnocchi with Gorgonzola Cream
I could eat this every night and double the portion. The sauce is a light cream (which is nice considering the Gorgonzola) and the gnocchi was pillowy and chewy. Yum!

Enchanted Garden: Pork Tenderloin with Rosemary Polenta
I swear this dish had crack in it when I was on the Dream. ,I don't even like pork but alongside the aromatic polenta it was just delicious. Maybe my favorite DCL meal. I just hope I'm not disappointed on the Fantasy next month.

Lows:
Parrot Cay/Pirate Night maybe?: Seafood Pasta with Shrimp and Scallops
This wasn't awful but the sauce was too chunky and I remember the shrimp being unedited for some reason. I only ate the scallops and picked at the pasta

I see some good foods listed by others that I enjoyed. I have to say my favorite dessert would have to be the Mickey ice cream bars. Most nights everyone in my group of eight who traveled last week on the Magic ordered Mickey bars for dessert even when we ordered another dessert from the menu. Last night I tasted part of a Klondike bar and it just couldn't compare to the ice cream and chocolate on the Mickey bar.
