Our kids will have part of their late April break cut short because of school days missed due to cold weather, anyone else and when?

February
March
April
May
Other because I've seen others use it in a poll. :)

Please also give your state, if you don't mind. I'm only allowed 12 options.

We haven't heard anything yet but I am worried this could happen to us.

We are in RI and have 4 days to make up at this point.

My brother's kids won't have a true spring break this March because of all the snow days... I think today was day 10 this winter. They're in Pennsylvania.

We lost the day after Presidents Day (Feb 19th), but we are being told that our April spring break won't be touched.

We are on our 11th day. We have lost a workday in March, 2 days of Spring Break in April and had 4 days added to the end of the year !

My girls school lost the 4 built in snow days. 2 for Memorial day week ( 5 day weekend is back to normal 3 day weekend). 2 days in April ( the Tuesday and Wednesday after Easter).
We had a snow day yesterday. Not sure but figure will lose the Monday after Easter ( but it is only a guess)

Voted other. We have 4 days to make up so far. They will all be added to the end of our school year in June.

We have lost 6 days so far. They said first 3 they are not making them make up but the last 3 they will. They have committed to not touch spring break. We have one teacher workday in March they will probably have to use and the predictions are (1) add to the end of the year, which is upsetting those with immediate vacation plans and the affect to graduation (2) Saturday classes (technically only 4 classes = full day of attendance and funding) which interferes with spring sports. Should be interesting, especially if there are more lost days.

Our students are required to make up every other snow/cold day and they are added to the end of the school year in June. I voted "Other"

I voted other because I am not completely sure how they do it. I thought they added onto the calendar in June, getting out later. I think we now have 2 days to make up.

We have lost 3 full school days here in Central Texas. The state only requires us to make up 2. Those are built into the calendar, but one of the built in days is Memorial Day, which has many parents and local veterans upset at the thought of the kids having to go to school on Memorial Day. So, not sure if the school district will keep it in place or bow to community pressure and move it to some other day. Its been an unusually cold, wet winter for us.

Jeeze yet some schools have off for Columbus or MLK day which is crazy when you think how many people have their lives for this country.

My part of Michigan schools are are sitting at 6 days off so far.

The private school system my wife and mom teach for go more days (hours?) than required, they haven't had to add any on yet.

The public school system hasn't had any add, I believe. I have a friend who teaches for the system and he says it is written in the teachers contacts they can't have days taken from breaks (during they year) to make up for snow days. They would have to have them added on before summer break (right now they get out June 11 or 12th).

Our local school district (south central PA) has already taken away one day in Feb., one in March, and one in April. And they've added 2 at the end of the year. Seniors will still graduate on the planned date.
If they need more make-up days it will be at the end of the year -- some districts are talking about using Saturdays rather than add at the end.

Voted other. We've only had two snow days and one early release so far in upstate NY. Haven't used up our built in snow days yet.

We've had 4. We always tack them on to the end of the year. I've been a teacher for 12 years and they've never touched our other days off.

Snow days don't affect Senior Graduation in our County. Graduations start on May 21 and run through June 2. As of right now, our last day of school (unless we miss more days) has been extended from June 5 to June 11.

Here in Alberta kids go to school regardless of the weather. It is up to the parents to send them to school or not.

We only miss school if we get at least six inches of snow overnight or major freezing rain, or it's less than -20 degrees with wind chill. We have gone to school when it snowed 5.5 inches between 4 and 8 a.m. We start with six extra days. The rural schools have gone over that already (because their roads weren't all plowed and the kids walk farther to the bus stop in negative temps), while a couple districts in the area still have one day to spare, including ours.

We never lose spring or winter break days. When we miss a day or two more than we have to spare, we add days in mid-June. However, because some rural districts have missed so many this year, there is also the possibility of a temporary law to allow schools to add a small amount time to the end of every school day for the rest of the year, instead.
