Its not located on land Disney owns, but you have to drive on their property to access the entrance gates to WBC. Thats why so many refer to it as being on property, but not Disney owned. The WBC property is bordered on 3 sides by WDW property. Its the only "off property" that I will even consider, since it is on their roadways...and is just as close as WDW hotels. It is right beside the CBR.

OP, we were more than willing to give up EMH (never use it), the busses (we typically drive to parks even when staying in a WDW hotel), and the dining plan (we dont pay for it, but have had it free) to be able to have the spacious accomadations that WBC offers. As a family of 6 (now 7 with the new SIL) we prefer lots of room to spread out. We have always been die-hard WDW resort hotel guests...until our last trip where we stayed at WBC. Such a savings as far as costs only confirms our decision!

Ditto to all of this.

Bonnet Creek isn't on property Disney ever owned. People who refer to WBC as being "on property" are either mistaken or are intentionally posting incorrect information (lies). The fact that you have to drive on Disney roads to get to the resort is irrelevant.

There are non-Disney operated hotels on land Disney owned, or used to own. SoG is on Disney land. Guests can walk to POLY and use Disney transportation. Guests can participate with EMH. Swan/Dolphin are on Disney land. They use Disney transportation and can participate in EMH. Guests staying at the Hilton in DTD can take advantage of EMH. Guests of all the DTD resorts can walk to DTD and use Disney transportation.

WBC is located closer to Disney property then most other offsite resorts. That means the driving distance to parks is less then the distance from other offsite properties. Orange Lake is a shorter drive to the Animal Kingdom then WBC. There are other offsite properties which offer easy access to Disney parks.

Sorry but saying WBC is on Disney property is not only factually incorrect but it implies some connection to Disney which doesn't exist. You can't even walk to Disney.

edited to add: I still don't understand the purpose of this thread. The timeshare condos at WBC compare to the DVC resorts not a value resort. Waldorf at Bonnet Creek can be compared to a Disney deluxe.

I never said that it was on Disney property. On the contrary I said (as shown in the bolded) that it is bordered by WDW property on 3 sides. You DO have to get on WDW roadways to gain access to WBC. It DOES sit right next door to other WDW resorts.
I think the fact that you drive on WDW roads is relevant. I like being within the "confines" of their roadways. Once off...it is a huge traffic jam that I dont like to get into and dont want to fight daily to get to the parks. The WDW roadways flow so easily and I dont mind to drive on them. If I had to be outside of that, my vacation would not be nearly as enjoyable.
I am not posting lies or intentionally incorrect info...I clearly stated that WBC is not a WDW resort and not on WDW property.
I also clearly stated that you do not get perks at WBC that WDW resorts offer. I hope that (Lewis) is not implying that I am posting lies, because I dont appreciate that if that is the case.

To clarify for the OP, Bonnet Creek is on Disney's property, but it's not an "on-site" resort.

I didn't accuse any poster in this thread of posting lies. Elleshoodat incorrectly said WBC is on Disney property. AFAIK she is mistaken and not lying. You said "many people refer to it as being on property". Those people are either mistaken or are liars.

Other off property resorts are as close, or almost as close, to parts of Disney as is WBC. The Celebration hotels are on land Disney used to own. Would you call them on property? That's at least something that at one time was true but isn't really a reason to stay at them vs other off property resorts.

WBC offers relatively new condo style accommodations conveniently located near WDW. People who stay there are frequently able to get great prices renting from owners.

Makes sense for a lot of people. Staying at a hotel with Disney perks also makes sense for a lot of people. People should make an informed decision. Saying the resort is on property is information which isn't true and doesn't help people make an informed decision.

People who want condo style accommodations have many options. They can stay onsite (DVC). WBC is less expensive then DVC. Condos a little bit further from Disney can be renting for less then WBC. Look at places like Skyauction.

edited to add: It's fair to say WBC is a shorter drive to more parks then is Orange Lake. It's a lie to say WBC is better because it's on property. In this context on property is not only not true but it implies things which aren't true.

Is it a similar price comparison? I have never stayed offsite, so I am shooting in the dark on this one.

It depends on how you book WBC. You can book it directly through Wyndham or rent a reservation from an owner. Also depends on what promotion Disney is running. I guess rack rate at a Disney value resort is similar to the rate some people are get WBC if they rent from an owner.

It's an apple to oranges comparison. You're comparing a hotel with a condo property. You're comparing offsite to onsite. You're comparing dramatically different payment and cancellation policies. Completely different housekeeping.

Completely different experiences. Intelligent people, with different priorities, might have a reason to pick either.

A fair comparison would be DVC. $$$ but similar accommodations. Other offsite time share resorts. Longer drive but even lower costs.
