For the past few days I have been at a loss to explain John McCain's pick of Sarah Palin as his Vice President. I just couldn't wrap my brain around the selection because it just didn't make any sense. Then suddenly this morning it all became clear. Sometime during this long presidential campaign, Htrae, or as it more commonly referred to, Bizarro World, has started an invasion of Earth.

For those of you not familiar with Bizarro World, it is the world from which Bizarro Superman hails, and its population desires nothing more than to be the opposite of Earth. The Bizarro Code states, "Us do opposite of all Earthly things! Us hate beauty! Us love ugliness! Is big crime to make anything perfect on Bizarro World!"

I am sure that many of you are asking why does Sarah Palin's nomination prove that Earth is under assault from Htrae. Let me explain.

The Republican Party's first President was Abraham Lincoln, a man that felt so strongly in the need to preserve the Union, that he waged a war against its citizens to fight the belief that individual states had a right to secede from the Union. Now the Republican Party has nominated a woman for Vice President that belonged to the Alaskan Independence Party, whose platform is based solely on the belief that Alaska has the right to secede from the Union.

John McCain has based his entire campaign upon the argument that he alone has the ability to make the thoughtful and wise judgment calls that a President is routinely forced to make. Yet his first presidential decision was to choose a woman that he had only met once and was never fully vetted. He went with his gut feeling.

The party that likes to bill itself as the party of "family values" has nominated a woman that is going to leave her five month old son with special needs at home so she can participate in a grueling presidential campaign. Her 17 year old daughter has become an unwed teen mother. While I personally don't think either of these are any of our business, it certainly is bizarre that she is the nominee for the party of "family values".

The Republicans like to talk about how the Democrats are weak on national security and foreign affairs, yet they nominate a woman that has stated that she really hasn't given the Iraq situation much thought and that the only argument for her having foreign policy experience is the fact that Russia is close to Alaska. Apparently we are supposed to believe that experience works by osmosis.

In the comics the reader is never truly worried because Superman always shows up to save the day; but, unfortunately here in the real world we don't have the Son of Krypton. The last line of defense for Earth to hold off the current invasion of Bizarro World is the boy of a single mother with big ears and strange name. Let us all hope that Lex McCain doesn't get his hands on Kal-El Obama's version of kryptonite.

As a comic book geek, I must say nice post.

Using comics to try to understand politics? Yup, that about wraps up the Democrats position. :rotfl: It's something right off the funny pages. :lmao:

ME LIKE!! :rotfl2:

I'm a major comic geek, too!!!

This is my biggest problem with Sarah Palin (& John McCain). His choice for VP is not only contrived, but disasterous. He screwed himself.

Unfortunately it was the only way I could rationalize McCain's pick.

I know and that makes it even funnier :rotfl:
I guess you just can't handle the real world, so you run and hide behind comics. :lmao:

Most of the country can understand why he would pick Palin (some might not agree with it, but they can understand it). But you have to use a comic book? This is the funniest thing I've read so far during these elections.
So what's next for you? Mother Goose? Dr. Seuss? :lmao:

I love how this is becoming an issue suddenly. And I especially love the caveat "not that it matters to me" suddenly absolves you of wrong doing or makes you a better person.

Here's my question to you. . .since you've taken it upon yourself to be the DIS's own personal Michael Moore. If a Republican had said regarding Gustav's timeliness like Moore and that other guy said, man, can you imagine the reaction.

But I do thank you for taking the time to dumb the whole process down for all of us great unwashed masses. Thank God we have members of the elitist Left to tell Americans what we really need or want. We would just be lost without the condescention and patronizing tone that they use to deliver their edicts from the tops of their ivory towers. Without it, we would be lost not only as a country, but as a race of semi-sentient beings. You are clearly our intellectual superiors and we should stop wasting time with these silly contrivings of mankind such as free elections, and simply appoint Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and John Murtha our Triumverate. To lead us down the path that we are blind to see, regardless of how clearly marked it may be, or how well built the wheelchair ramps.

Now if you will excuse me, the hipocracy in here is getting too thick.

How many points is this gonna cost me. . .

Very good! :thumbsup2 Why don't you send it to the Democratic National Headquarters? They could probably use it as their National Creed. :lmao:

Wow, I am the DIS's own personal Michael Moore? I just stumbled upon the Community Board in the last week or so, I had no idea that I have had such an impact.

As to your question about Michael Moore's comment, I agree that it was awful. However, I don't know if the reaction would have been worse if it had been a Republican, the national prayer group praying for rain during Obama's speech didn't get that much coverage. For me personally, I prayed that FEMA would not mess up this hurricane like they did Katrina.

And my caveat of "not that it matters to me" wasn't supposed to make me look like a better person, but simply demonstrate how I "don't get" the selection of Palin.

As I stated before, I have only been on the Community Board for a week, but if you think my original post was "dumbing down" the discussion, obviously you haven't spent that much time on the DIS Board.

p.s. I did not take any offense, so I am not sure why you thought you would lose points.

I am not a comic book geek. I opened this thread because I wanted to see the person who either can't spell or is such a horrible typist that he/she wrote "heart" wrong. :)

Good point. I know that some people prefer to avoid political discussions, so I have edited the title of the post to reflect its true nature.

I want to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to Dr. Seuss for the above.

I want to give equal billing to Old Mother Goose, so here we go!

Old Man McCain,
When he wanted to squander,
Would act like he didn't care
That his acts were a pander.

Barack's campaign came in,
And caught the VP loon,
And told on the quack,
While whistling a tune.

Excellent post! Harriet Meyers would have been a better choice for McCain. I really think he shot himself in the foot with this one.

Harriet Miers had more experience!

That's OK, both Dr. Seuss and Mother Goose have more experience than BO - at least they accomplished something.
The only thing that BO has accompished is, uh, umm, well...Oh wait, he was a better mudslinger than Hillary. I knew there was something that he did. :thumbsup2
