Does it make you nervous when you look in your rear view mirror and you see a police car behind you? I dont know why, but it makes me very nervous, even though I am not breaking the law or anything.. I hate that feeling of looking back and seeing one right behind me:confused3 Am I the only crazy person it bothers?:confused3;)

No it makes me nervous too!

Same with crossing the border, I always feel nervous and sweaty like I'm smuggling drugs or something, lol.

lol, i don't think you're crazy. it REALLY bothers me too. i live in a small suburb of a larger (but still considered small) city, and we have LOTS of city police and county sheriff's deputies who live out here, as well as our own town police force. when i look in the rearview mirror and one of them is behind me, i get super nervous, afraid i'm going to do some little thing wrong and get pulled over.

Me too! Happened just yesterday. Looked back and here he was, I immediately looked to make sure I was going the correct speed. I was, of course cars were zooming passed me and he just kept following me until he got off at an exit.

LOL, it doesn't make me nervous, just annoyed!

i always get nervous and worry that if I am half a mile over the speed limit I am going to get a ticket.

Somehow I feel that my car looks guilty :rotfl:

Yes!! Not only does it makes me nervous when they are driving behind me but sometimes when I'm on the parkway and night, I think a police car is behind me and it makes me nervous! I'm always looking in my review mirror trying to figure out if that is police lights or just someone's ski rack!

I am such a rule-follower, and even though I never (well, hardly ever) do anything wrong, I am terrified of authority!

Only if right before he was behind me, I was speeding.

oh my gosh! so nervous. It's like I have to make sure I'm on my best behavior or something.

Yes!! I feel like I'm going to do something wrong, and my mind races to remember if I have done anything worthy of being put in the slammer!!

Which I haven't.

Does not bother me at all. Back when I was "On the job" we used to say the best safety device was a rear view mirror with a police car in it.

It does. I have a bit of a lead foot, so when I see one I get nervous. I have learned to slow it down over the years, but still.

When I'm in my own car, I get nervous, too. And I make sure to drive at or below the speed limit. However, this is probably VERY annoying to the police officer or whoever else might actually be behind you. I say this because, for work, I frequently drive vehicles that are easily mistaken for police cars (crown vic or SUV with red lights on top.) Anyway, I hate to get behind people who immediately slow down by 10mph. I mean I totally understand because I do it too. But it still is annoying when I just want to get to where I'm going.

I wonder if that's the difference between those who actually follow the rules and those who say they follow the rules but always think they have a good explanation for when they are caught not following the rules?

The ones who always follow the rules never get nervous when there's a policeman around.

Hmm...something for me to think about. Juicy!

Makes me nervous too. I always think I'm doing something wrong. ;)

My favorite 'police car behind me' experience: We were leaving a bar one night, and a town police car with two officers in it followed my car all the way to the town line.

I was probably the only person in the bar who hadn't had any alcohol that night. I was half-tempted to pull over and tell them they were wasting their time...

I had a small town cop follow me through Bellevue Michigan this Summer. He was really out of line, right on my bumper. I would have stopped right in the middle of the road and asked him what the ^%$# was his problem except for one thing. We had several cases of Everclear alcohol in the boot, just purchased in Indiana! We need it to make our products but it's not sold in Michigan.

I was sweating bullets all the way to the city limit sign where he turned around.
