We have Poison Ivy that grows in our backyard and I'm always walking around with the Round-Up shooting it dead, and then pulling it out with Latex Gloves that I throw away afterwards.

This is what we have beenn using on my DD when she gets poison ivy--jewelweed lotion (from the health food store) and Hyland's Poison Ivy/Oak pills which are Rhustox (sp?) pills dissolved under the tongue (also from the health food store).

DD is very allergic and this has helped her more than anything we have ever tried!! (Prescriptions included) I hope it might help you or someone else here.

DBF gets poison ivy a lot due to hanging round tree's.

He had it a few weeks ago, and thankfully due to his job, the local urgent care doc will give him the shot without any pressure!..

that said- it can take 7-10 days for the oils to fully erupt through your skin...you will get worse before you get better!

They make a cleanser to use, that DBF use's daily incase he gets oil on him...forget the name but its in his truck LOL...

You have my sympathy. I had a few spots of something near my ankle that looked like a spider bite. The spots got red and then the area between them started to look like raw meat and oozy. More spots showed up here and there. I started wondering if I had bed bugs after reading all the threads about that later on the DIS. But after further reading, partly your post, I believe this is poison ivy or poison oak, or something along those lines. I heard about the jewelweed nature remedy and did a search to see what it looks like. It turns out I have litterally acres of jewelweed growing throughout our 9 acres of woods. It has formed ground cover wherever there is enough sun for plants to grow. Tonight I will experiment a bit with crushed leaves and or juice from the stem and see if it helps. I am not itching a whole lot now but still getting little spot erruptions, and the original patches look nasty!
