Points transfer question

We have two contracts.
One with Aug UY and one with Dec UY.
Want to transfer our points from Aug 2014 UY for a trip in Apr 2015.

Should not be a problem to do this correct?
Do I call member services to do this? Am assuming I can't do this myself online.

If we transfer out of Aug and into Dec contract does that cover the 1 transfer per year on BOTH contracts then?

An April 2015 trip falls in both your Dec 2014 UY and your Aug 2014 UY. Do you want to combine the points from both UYs to book the trip? Then you would need to transfer, unless you could book some nights with the Aug UY and some with the Dec UY. Why did you want to transfer?

And to answer your question about the one transfer per year, yes, it would. One out of Aug and one into Dec. BUT, some members have been told they are able to make a second transfer in or out since they transferred to themselves. When I did similar, I was told I used my once a year transfer in or out on each contract.

Yes we need to combine the points - have 222 August 2014 UY and 14 Dec 2014 UY and will need to borrow from our 240 Dec 2015 UY points to make reservation.
Since we want to use all 222 Aug I thought it would be easier to transfer those into the Dec UY account since what is left from the 2015 Dec UY points can then be banked if needed. And I wasn't sure if they would let you transfer borrowed points to make the reservation on the Aug UY account.
I hope I have not made that too confusing. I know I could make two reservations and link but I can't use all 222 points evenly without either borrowing on that account or leaving a few points in there which we wouldn't be able to use before they expired even with banking.
Also I wanted to be able to book the full week right at 7 months and if I made two reservations I don't think they would let me do that correct?

Yep, you need to transfer the Aug points into the Dec UY since you cannot borrow transferred points and your Dec 2015 points wouldn't be good for the April 2015 trip without borrowing.

So you transfer the Aug points into your Dec 2014 UY. Then you borrow what you need from Dec 2015 to complete the reservation. You'll have to do this on the phone because transferred points don't show up online. Make sure they use all the 2014 points before you borrow the 2015 points.

You can probably wait until you need the points in September. Don't forget about one time use points, too. You can purchase up to 24 one time use points for $15 a point at seven months out to complete a reservation. I just did it today for my Spring reservation.

MS has been generous regarding members with multiple memberships regarding transfers and have been allowing intra-membership transfers without using the one-per-year by the membership to another member.

While they have been allowing this for awhile now, please realize that it is contrary to the printed policy and can be discontinued without any notice.

MS has always been good about assisting DVC members with more than one membership to combine points for travel.

Depending on the reservation you are trying to make for 2015, you may not even need to transfer between your memberships as nights of the stay may be reserved from each membership and then linked together by MS.

The rule is one transfer per UY not per point, I wouldn't risk thinking another CM would agree.

That's true for banking points. Either the CM misspoke or you misunderstood.

I know that when using 2 different accounts to make 2 separate reservations that you cannot "split" a night and that is why I am asking...

Yes, they pool together, but they won't show up online. You'll have to call to book with transferred points, so you probably want to do the transfer and booking all at once.

Yes, all of the points are pooled in the one membership (just the same as having multiple contracts - all with the same Use Year - in the one membership) and they may be used to make a reservation without regard to where they originally came from. If the points were from 2 different resorts, they could only be combined at 7 months, but the same Home Resort allows reservations using the 11 month priority.
