Already planning a trip for next year and haven't even left for this years trip! LOL. Here's my question.....at the time I am looking at for my next trip, I will have 100 points current year, and I will borrow 200 points from next year, but I will buy a contract for the resort I want to stay at and need to transfer those 300 points to the new contract for the year.

I know only one transfer rule, what I don't know is how the transfer works when you bank & borrow.....

You can't transfer banked or borrowed points, only current year points. And you cannot borrow transferred points, but you can bank them.

A transfer is when one membership transfer points to another membership. If you own two contracts that are titled the same way, with the same UY, they are one membership and you would not need to transfer.

If they are the same resort, they then function as one big contract for booking purposes and can be used that way at 11 months. If they are different resorts, then you can't combine until 7 months.

If your new contract is a different UY or titled differently, then it will be a different membership. In that case, you would need to transfer, or book some of your trip with one membership and the other part with the other one.

so, I currently have a Dec UY @ SSR, we want to buy at BLT, so if I make sure I buy a Dec UY & title it the same as my SSR, then I can transfer the current UY points only? from SSR correct?

If it is a Dec UY and titled the same way, its the same membership and there is no need to transfer.

At 11 months, you would be able to book SSR with the SSR points and book BLT with the BLT points. At 7 months, all your points, from both resorts, can be used together to book any of the DVC resorts.

If you buy BLT with a different UY, then it will be a different membership. If you then wanted to use your SSR points with your BLT points for a single night--at the 7 month window or less--then yes, you would need to transfer.

You do know, though, that owning at two different resorts does not allow you to use all your points at the 11 month window. Your SSR points will not be good at BLT until the 7 month mark and vice versa.

oh, see...that's where I thought the transfer came in to play. That if I transfer my SSR points to my BLT contract, then it would all be considered BLT points, thus 11 month eligible....I guess not. Thanks so much for all your help!

How hard do you think it would be to get a Grand villa at BLT in June at 7 months?

Not sure...but if you own BLT points, you can use banking and borrowing to use all of your BLT points at 11 months to book as many nights in the GV as you can...

For example, if you had a 150 pt BLT contract, technically, you would have up to 450 points--with banking and borrowing--to use at the 11 month window. Then book the remainder of your trip at SSR. At exactly 7 months, call and try to book the rest with your SSR points.

Points never change their home resort status...

No, SSR points will always be SSR points. You can use them at SSR 7-11 months out. At 7 months or less, you can use them anywhere.

BLT points will always be BLT points. Same you can use them for the home resort advantage more than seven months out (at BLT) or at seven months or less at any resort.

GVs are hard to get at seven months out. You might get a few nights in a row, but usually seven nights in a row at seven months or less out is tough to get.
