We purchased 150 points in SSR. We have never stayed there, preferring other resorts. If we were to purchase additional points could we trade the SSR points to the same resort as the additional points purchased? I know there would be a fee or loss at some point in the transfer, but we have never used the 11 month booking to our advantage as we have always stayed elsewhere. Does that even make sense??

No, you would need to sell the points at SSR and buy another contract at the other resort you wanted.

You'd have to sell and then buy something new. You normally lose around $20-25 a point or more when selling SSR and adding other DVC resorts depending on specifics of course. IMO adding on points while keeping what you have is almost always the best option. The exceptions are when you have too many or have higher demand/value points that what you own such as down trading in resort demand or number of points. DVC, unlike some others, does not take the points back and allow you to convert to other home resorts. I wouldn't be surprised in the future if they go this route.
