points towards DCL cruise?

HEY guys.
I don't have a guide yet (tried to get one but it's been a week and I still don't have any idea if she even sent me anything, and I don't want to keep her), so I have no one to ask yet and don't want to play roulette on who I get when I call blindly. I know the number of points is way up there but does anyone have a good idea of exactly or ball-park how up there they are?

It varies based on stateroom category, cruise length and time of year. DCL has many more seasons than DVC does.

I'd be happy w/ a ball park of ANY kind. We're booked in a cat 3 for a 4 nighter this fall and I'm suspecting we will LOVE the experience so if I buy into DVC, I want to have a clue on what to look at.

Looks like all of Jan 2010 is High Value Season. There are the points for a 4 night cruise in Jan 2010.

A Cat 5 is 156 points per person for the first 2 persons. Using the kids ages in your sig, DS9 would be 74 points and DS20mths would be 48 points.

A Cat 6 is 144 points per person for the first 2 persons. Using the kids ages in your sig, DS9 would be 74 points and DS20mths would be 48 points.

You can also use a combination of points and cash if you book thru DVC. Each person on the reservation must be paid for fully by cash or points. There is also a $95 exchange fee to book thru DVC.

I edited the points to clarify. The points for the first 2 are per person. So you are looking at 300 +/- total points for the first 2 people in the stateroom.

In my situation, points are not a good value. We sailed on a 4 night over Memorial Day which would have been almost 300 points for the 2 of us. I got a FL resident rate of $450 per person. That was half the going cash rate when I booked and about a 1/3 of what the points could be worth figuring a minimum of $10/point if I wanted to rent my points out.

THAT is what I was afraid of.

We are only doing a suite this time becase A: we had time to pay it off and B: we knew we'd never be able to afford one on a longer trip.

So you can split it up between points and cash? If I book 2 people on points, I can pay the other 2 in cash?

Still...yikes! sigh
