Points question

DH and I are seriously thinking that DVC maybe for us, but I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. Are the points it take to stay per night at any given resort fixed or do they change yearly just like the resort room rates?

Thanks in advance!! I'm really getting excited and nervous at the same time about potentially buying into this. I'm very interested in AKV as a home resort but then wonder if I should wait for the Kingdom Towers to become available as this would actually be my preference. UGH!! What to do, what to do???

The points at DVC resorts are fixed thru 2009 at this point - but the non-DVC options can (and do) change each year.

The DVC point charts can be changed, but since the total points at each resort cannot be changed, if some nights are raised, others MUST be lowered to keep everything in balance.

In practice, this has happened only once - at OKW in 1996. In that situation some nites were raised a few points, some were lowered a few points and many saw no change at all. No changes have ever occurred at the other DVC resorts - and none are anticipated in the near future. HOWEVER, it is important that members realize it could happen - and has happened in the past with no prior input from owners at the resort.

I would not have any concern about a reallocation of points at this point in time.
