example--oct 1-31 12 pts perferred-9 pts standard at BWV sun-thurs
same date oct 1-31 19 pts sun-thurs AT PO or any moderate resort. Why are the moderates so expensive, any reasons. thanks

The exchange rates between DVC and the resorts is dependant on individual contracts between the two. My impression is that Disney can always plan on the moderates being filled, so why make it easy to "give" away a moderate room. Besides, I would rather have the space and comfort of a DVC room any day over a moderate.

BWV is a DVC resort - POR is not. Technically what happens when you book at POR with points is DVC trades your reservation in to Disney. You will always find your points go farther at DVC resorts. Also, the points are fixed at DVC resorts but not at Disney. They can and often do go up each year. If you are buying into DVC to primarily trade out and stay at non-DVC resorts, it's probably not going to save you much, if anything, over the long haul.

thanks for the info. I just made a resale buy into bwv for 450 pts some banked. All for under $10,000. I'm new at this and I believe this is a good deal. Is this good?

450 points a year or you have 450 points this year due to banking?

sorry, I'm new to all this. 150 pts yearly. breakdown as follows 150 pts to use by august 2002
150 pts from being banked in 2001 on august 1st 2002
150 pts -new august 2002
-----
450 pts total
only drawback is making ressie in late May for July when contract is complete. I thought this was great. Let me know what you think. thanks

Dumbo,

I think you got the wrong figures........It is 150 pts per yr / $10,000...comes to $66 per point.

My post didn't show up until after he explained it was for only 150 points. I was composing it before he posted his explanation. After I saw his post I deleted mine.
