I'm not sure if I have this right. If I bank some of my 2008 points I have to use them by 2009 or I lose them, do I have this right? Or do they then become 2009 points and I can bank them and use them in 2010? :confused3

Points can only be banked once, so if you bank say 70 points into the next year, you must be sure you can use at least 70 points that next use year, or you will lose those points.

Your first thought is correct.

If you bank points you need to use them in that following year or you loose them.
Best bet is to make sure any reservations you make in 2009, would use 2008 banked points first.
You could then always bank 2009 points.

Keep in mind that we are talking about use year, not calendar year.

For example, if you have an August use year, your 2008 points are good for stays between 8/1/2008 and 7/31/2009.

If you bank your 2008 use year points (which you cannot do before 8/1/2008), then they become valid for stays between 8/1/2009 and 7/31/2010. If you do not use them within that period, they expire and are lost to you.

Banking and borrowing are final transactions. They cannot be reversed. You may only bank a point once.
