Hi everyone,

Just a question - I had to cancel a reservation in March about 20 days out. Those points go into a holding account that member services told me I would have to use by years end.

I made a reservation for this October, and the rep on the phone told me that I could call back in August (within the 60 day time period) and have those holding points applied to the vacation that I booked for October. Is that true? It does not seem that way in the book.

Thanks for any help or suggestions

Eric

Well, yes and no.

As far as I know, it will be subject to availability. In other words, if your request is still available, they'll make a new reservation using the holding points and cancel the other reservation.

You cannot just reallocate the holding points. That would defeat the whole purpose of the holding account, and would be similar to making an 11-month reservation using home resort points, and at 7-months converting it to use non-home points. Same idea. Not allowed to directly convert. But can be done pending availability.

You said 'by year's end' so not sure what your Use Year is, but guess you mean a December Use Year month (There are no January Use Year months). So keep in mind, if this is correct, keep in mind you would be in your 50% banking window, assuming you want to bank some or all of the returned points.

Hope this helps

My use year is actual March. So - if I called in August I should get the 100% worth of the points. So - yes, my year would end Feb 2007.

OK - I didnt really understand about the re-booking part, and thought something didnt sound right. Hopefully I wont lose them, but I could not avoid the cancellation - so I will just have to do my best to work something out!

Thanks - keep the suggestions coming

Eric

You can sub the points for any days that are available, your entire stay doesn't have to be. You could then bank the freed up points if need be. You could also rent them out or even transfer them to another member if you chose to do so.
