Points in Holding Account

I just purchased an add-on with points in a holding account that will expire before my next planned trip. Can those points be transferred / sold for use before expiration or are they locked in the holding account? I read through the holding account write-up in the member guidebook but I'm still not sure. Any help or thoughts is greatly appreciated!

As far as I know, points in the holding account cannot be transferred, and they expire at the end of the use year. All you can do with them is make a reservation 60 days or less from your arrival date. The resevation can be at one of the non-DVC options (except II) as long as it is also more than 60 days from the end of your use year.

Today would be a good day to call MS and ask for the "official" answer. Since the reservation system is down, they should have plenty of time to explain the ins and outs of the holding account. Starting tomorrow, they're going to be super busy again for awhile.

I don't think they can be transferred but they can be rented. If it's enough points you might consider talking to MS about your once in a lifetime exception where you could bank them and take them out of the holding account all at one time. It really depends on whether it's enough points to be worth it or not.
