Points for Resorts???

I've seen a posting for points for the resorts and not the DVCs. How does that work exactly?

Are you talking about posts on the rent trade board here? If so, it might be that someone had a reservation booked in the Disney collection exchange options, and had to cancel, leaving those points as "reservation points" that can only be used for other "Disney collection" exchanges.

There was a lady on the point rent/trade board that has 200+ points that can only be used at several of the Resorts (Contemporary, CS, POR, etc), at Disneyland and something else. They cannot be used at a DVC. I had never heard of points for resorts and wanted to see how that worked.

As Diane mentioned above, if you make a reservation for a Disney hotel using DVC points, and then cancel that reservation, the returned points become 'Reservation Points', and can only be used for non-DVC reservations at that point.

Yes, those would be reservation points. They can't be returned to DVC, since they have already been used there for the exchange into a regular resort.

How do you figure out how many points are needed for a reservation? I know I can do the DVC calculator and figure it out for a DVC ressi.

Plus a $95 fee for each non-DVC reservation (except for Dl resorts at this time).
