I've been considering the Disney Vacation Club for a while now, but our current trip has stepped it up a notch. We're staying at the CR MK view for the first time and fell in love with the place. So, my question is how many points does this room cost per night on the DVC plan? The thought of the down payment for the plan scares me, but if we are considering coming back here again each ear, it shold be worth it. Thanks for any input.

The CR is not a DVC resort, so the point costs are going to be much higher than they would be for a comparable room at a DVC resort. Possibly two to three times higher. There will also be a $95 charge for booking a non-DVC resort.

If you plan to stay in a CR tower MK view all the time, DVC is not for you. Aside from the point costs being higher, the points for the non-DVC resorts are NOT fixed, and go up every year. So, in a few years, you could find that you no longer have enough points to stay there.

DVC is meant to be used at the DVC resorts. We do have the ability to stay on points at the non-DVC resorts, but it's meant to be a perk, used occasionally, and certainly is not intended to be the primary use of your membership.

There are rumors that the new tower being built at the Contemporary will be DVC villas. So, sit tight, continue to enjoy your stays at CR on cash reservations, and if they do indeed start selling DVC at the CR, you'll be a great candidate to buy there.

OK, just looked up the points. For the cheapest season, you can stay in an MK view tower room at CR for 43 points per night Sunday-Thursday, and 77 points per night Friday or Saturday.

For a studio at VWL, it's 12 points per night Sun- Thurs, 22 points per night Friday-Saturday.

I'm sure you now see why this isn't a good idea.....if you bought the minimum 160 points, and didn't stay over any Friday or Saturday nights, you could stay for 3 nights a year at CR, or 13 nights a year at VWL. And, as I said in my other post, the CR points can and do go up every year. Within a couple of years your points might only cover 2 nights per year at CR.

Thanks alot for looking up the info. We were not able to make it to a presentation during our stay, but did talk to two different people at DVC kiosks. Of course, they were each telling us we'd be able to spend 7-8 nights at the CR with the base 160 points. Sounds like thats far from the truth. I tink we'll wait a couple more years and see what happens with the new construction at the CR ;)

You can borrow points from the next 3 years, so a week would be possible with the minimum point purchase. Not a very wise decision IMO, but possible.

Sounds like maybe the CM's at the DVC kiosks are letting the cat out of the bag without saying so about DVC @ CR! :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: Let's keep the rumors going! popcorn::

In all seriousness, if CRV does come true they are probablly telling the truth about the point requirements, but it would be in the new tower they are building!
