points banking/borrowing question

I have a 180 point Feb UY SSR contract. I would like to make reservations next year Nov 20 - Nov 26.

I would like to book a 2BR at Vero 3 days and 4 days SSR, but I will first book 7 days at SSR at the 11 month window, then try to get Vero at the 7 month window.

7 - day ressie at SSR costs 55+29+29+29+36+36+68 = 282

I would have to borrow 102 points from 2005 points.

If at the 7-month window I could get Vero for 3-days new point total would be 60+24+24+29+36+36+68 = 277.

Since you cannot un-borrow points, could I bank the 5 point difference from 2004 points into 2005? Or do you HAVE to use all current UY points before "playing" with the borrowed points? (i.e. will I lose 5 points?)

You have it exactly right. What you will do is go ahead and use the borrowed points, then bank 5 points into your 2005 UY.

As long as you do these reservations far enough in advance, you won't get hung with the points. It can be more problematic for those who go on a wait list and that doesn't come through until the last minute.

You should be fine...we've done pretty much the same scenario and you just bank your points. But make sure you go through it carefully with the CM at Member services because they don't always know to do those things for you.

And I end all reservation calls with a confirmation of this year and next year's point status to make absolutely sure we're on the same page.

I'm new at this but this is what I think will happen. The "new" reservations uses the borrowed points first, and then the current year's points. That will make those 5 extra points from the current use year as the extra points. These could be banked according to the banking deadline dates. You would mention this when you make the second reservation. I think that I've read that some members follow up the reservation with an e-mail to be sure.

You're OK. At 7-months, subject to availability, you will probably get the VB. Effectively then you are cancelling 3 days at SSR changing that to a 4-day reservation, and getting a new additional reservation for 3-days at VB.

Make sure MS uses all the borrowed points for this new VB-SSR combination vacation first, and the remaining points from your 2004 use year. That leaves 5-points from your 2004 use year which can be banked into 2005.

Since your use year month is February, and 5 points is well less than 25% of your total of 180 annual points, then your banking deadline is Nov 30, 2004 to bank these 5 points into 2005.
