We want to take another cruise in 2010. I will have 266 pts left from 2009 and the whole 350 pts for 2010. Our use year is Dec. and we are planning to take the cruise around Oct 2010. Am I correct in thinking that these 616 pts are all I can use towards this cruise due to our use year? Or is it actually possible to borrow from 2011? Lastly, if the 616 pts are all we can use is it possible to pay the difference in cash? Thanks for your help & I hope what I am trying to ask is clear.

Hmm. I'm fairly new to DVC myself so I'm not sure how far in advance you can borrow points. I have used my points for a cruise in the past and am planning another cruise so I do know that you can pay cash for someone. The first person in the room must be on points, but anyone after that can be paid for in points OR cash so long as they are fully paid in a single method.

Actually, you would have to borrow your 2010 points in order to go on the cruise in Oct 2010 since you have a Dec use year. So the only points you would have available would be the 616 pts.

However, I would suggest renting your points and using the cash to book the cruise, it is a better use of the points. You would need less to pay for the cruise than if you used points. Just a suggestion.

The points must be in the Use Year of the trip so Oct 2010 is during your Dec, 2009 UY. So assuming your info above is correct, the 616 points is all you'll have. If by change your 266 points referenced above are actually 2008 points coming this Dec, add another 350 to your available total.

Hi I'm new to DVC we bought points about 8 months ago. I have a question about points and a disney cruise. Are the points listed (on the point chart) for the length of the cruise? My kids would really like to go on a cruise and I am not sure how it works. Thank you

Yes, the points chart is for the length of the cruise per person. The first 2 passengers are the full point amount per person and the additional passengers are at a reduced point price based on age.

Thank you very much that is what I thought but I wasn't sure.
