points and cash

Sorry - I've read other threads, not sure yet if I have my answer tho.

Looking to book 3 nights. First two nights are available with points. Third night not available for points, but is available for cash. If I book a points/cash reservation - can I waitlist the cash night in hopes of getting it changed to points between now and when we go?
Also - what are the chances we'll have to change rooms?

Yes,I am fairly sure that you can wait list the night that you book on cash, in the hopes of switching it a points reservation. Just check on what the cancellation policy is on that cash night, so you know how long you can wait for your wait list to come through. Pretty sure it is a fairly liberal cancellation policy on cash nights though.

If you are seeing availability online thru DRC, I would call MS to see if you can make the reservation through them using the 25% DVC discount - which might at least help some with the cost and will also allow MS to link the reservations together so you won't need to change villas for that night.

I would still keep your waitlist as something may still open up.

Different room inventories. Cash night might be available because members have traded out of DVC, either through RCI, or AbD, or DCL...
