Points and Cash at non-DVC resort?

Has anyone made a reservation at a non-DVC resort using both points and cash?

I have always wanted to stay at one of the monorail resorts, just because. I want to stay on a thursday and friday night. Can I make a reservation using points on thursday night and cash on friday night? The points for a friday night are a bit much so I thought it might be better to just pay cash for that night.

Also if the answer is yes I can do this, do I do it all through member services or do I have to do points through member services and cash through the regular Central Reservations Office?

I don't see why you couldn't do it. However, you would have to book through both MS and CRO since MS doesn't handle cash reservations for non-DVC resorts and vice versa. You may also encounter a problem with being able to stay in the same room since you'll have to check-in twice. However, if you are specific with CRO about what you are doing and let them know again at check-in, they can probably work it out.

Agreed, you'd possibly need to change rooms. You'd be better off renting your points and staying on cash only with what discounts you can find. If not, just do points only.
