points and cancellations

we bought 160 points, so i can book my home resort at 11 months out. but what if i needed to cancel my reservation say within 30 or 60 days. is there a penalty.

You can cancel up to 31 days before your reservation and be able to put the points back into your account and if you are within banking windows, you can bank them. If you cancel 30 days or less out, the points go into a holding account and can only be used for stays booked within 60 days.

The only "penalty" that I can think of is if you're past your banking deadline or if you borrowed next years points that you won't be able to use before they expire.
