I knew Dan Marino's closed "for renevations" right after Christmas, but apparently Matrix and Metropolis (the dance clubs) closed New Years's Eve, and Lulu's Bait Shack has stopped restaurant service--it's just a bar now.

I still think the place looks better since they opened it up, but they cannot open those new restaurants fast enough.

There is a Dan Marino's in Orlando????....I never know that....I cant believe I am a huge Marino fan and I didnt know this info...all the time I have been to Orlando....I have been to the one in Ft. Lauderdale....Is the one in Orlando gonna open back up

Wow- the last time we visited Pointe Orlando (fall 2004) it was like a ghost town.

I was amazed by the construction when we drove by in December. We frequently visited Pointe Orlando since it opened...and it hasn't been open all that long. To see the major construction going on, we were very surprised.

I was also surprised at all the construction when we drove past in December. Has the FAO Schwarz toystore totally gone? What about the movie complex? Was Pointe Orlando not making enough money? If so, I am puzzled because it has a great location on International Drive and must have had lots of foot traffic walking past.

FAO Schwartz closed years ago, altho they only got around to taking down the giant teddy bear and blocks last Summer. Movie theater is still there (or was a few weeks ago), should remain, as I heard they were building a new box office.

It is a great location, but it used to have just a blank wall fronting onto I-Drive. The current construction is designed to open it up to the road, give it more of a streetscape--it does look a lot better, a lot more open. And they have four new restaurants scheduled to open later this year. In the meantime, tho, it's more and more of a ghost town every day. Not sure they will be able to recover from that image even when everything finally opens.

the Mercado has a good I-Drive spot as well, but continues to fail. the shopping and dining options in Orlando are ever-expanding and competitive. I can't imagine what the price is per square foot on I-Drive. but it's obviously too much for places like the Hard Rock and FAO.

Jason71 do you still have to pay to park and is the Yankee Candle Co. still there? :)

the yankee candle company is still there. (for now) and you still have to pay for parking unless you hit a restaurant or the movies.
