We are still think of joining DVC, no hurry. Since Disney has placed this no extra use policy for resale DVC Concierge and Vacation will it become on the rent and re-sale market to buy points with perks and without perks. So when listed it will state can use for vacation in Europe. I'm think when you want to buy points to go on a trips instead of paying the full Disney price?

Ok, your post is a bit confusing. If you are saying that people on the rent/trade board will post if they are with perks or not....well it doesn't really matter. It would be silly to rent DVC points to use outside of the system, the price would be more than taking a rental directly with your desired destination.

If you are talking about resale listings....again, all points not bought through Disney will not have an exchange option.

After the 3/20 date, no resales will have the extended benefits. Even with resale after 3/20, you can still trade through RCI, which can get you weeks in other locations like Europe. However, Disney could do away with that tomorrow. Really, the only thing guaranteed is that you can use your points to book at your home resort, so don't buy for any reason other than that. I have never traded, but people on the boards say it's not wise use of points. You may be better off renting them out and just using the rental dollars to pay cash for vacations outside of Disney.

Like I said Im trying to learn all the rules.

Generally, using DVC points to do things outside of the DVC resorts (so things like cruises, staying @ a hotel that's not DVC, Adventures by Disney trips) are NOT a good economical use of those points. You can do better by renting your points to someone and taking the cash proceeds and paying cash for those outside opportunities. That is why many members aren't that concerned about the new restrictions on resale points after 3/20 - because that is something many wouldn't have used their points for anyway.

For a new buyer, it's simple - if you buy direct from Disney now - you will have unrestricted points that can be used for those items I mentioned above. If you buy resale, you will not be able to use your points for those things.

If someone bought before 3/20/11 - either direct or resale, they will continue to keep the ability to use those external options with their points.

Currently, it's only the Disney Collection that has been dropped from availability for resale contract bought after 3/20/11. You can still use those points to trade into the World Passport Collection and Concierge Collection. Just not Disney Collection.

I believe that the new limitation for resale purchases includes Disney Collection, Concierge Collection and Adventure Collection - basically any of the non-DVC options.

The World Passport Collection is still available since that involves exchanging a DVC reservation for another timeshare resort reservation.

You're right, Doc. This is from the member website:

New Policy Announced for Re-sale Purchases

Disney Vacation Club® has announced a new policy that limits access to certain Member Getaways exchanges for Ownership Interests purchased on the secondary market (also known as the re-sale market).

Under the new policy, Members who purchase from anyone other than Disney Vacation Development, Inc., on or after March 21, 2011, will not be eligible to use those Vacation Points to make reservations within the Concierge Collection, the Disney Collection or the Adventurer Collection. Those Vacation Points will instead be valid only for reservations at Disney Vacation Club resorts, as well as for RCI® exchanges, Club Cordial and Club Intrawest.

The affected collections are special Member benefits programs offered by Disney Vacation Development, Inc., and are not part of Members' Ownership Interests. That said, Members who purchased on the secondary market prior to March 21, 2011, may use those Vacation Points for all Member Getaways.

As mentioned, from this points forward, the use of DVC points for the above mentioned collections, are basically for the current owners of the contracts, regardless of how those contracts are required.

Any change in ownership, for contracts not submitted for ROFR prior to the 3/20 deadline, will result in the removal of those benefits.

#1- No, renting points to go to Disney is cheaper than booking direct with Disney. But the new rules have nothing to do with DVC vacations (staying at Walt Disney World Vacation Club Resorts). It only affects someone wanting to trade out to a cruise vacation, etc.

#2-Contracts that were bought in the resale market before March can still trade out to non-DVC vacations, but the ones that were bought from another person and not direct through Disney will not be able to trade out to all locations (like taking a cruise or Adventures by Disney, etc).

Speaking of points with perks -- can someone please tell me how much AKV points are selling via direct puchase from DVD?

Any rumours of the price per point for AKV going up soon?

Are there any incentives that lowers the point cost in any way?

Are there/what are the closing costs?

Thanks,
Zebsterama

DVCnews.com usually has pretty up to date pricing information. And, I believe the Disney is now charging closing costs for all contracts bought through them.
