point transfer question

I have 3 contracts. I might want to transfer some points from one contract to another at 7 months out. Is there a way to do this online or do I have to call?

Transfers are only between memberships, not contracts. If all of your contracts are under the same one (same UY and titled the same), there is no transferring involved. When you book at 7 months, you simply check which contracts to use.

If you own more than one membership and want to move points from one to the other, you have to call MS. They then create a temporary new contract in the receiving membership to hold the points you transferred in.

You can book online too. Just check the contract or contracts you want to use for the bookings in the order you want points pulled.

Since you can use all points together at 7 months it’s easy..well, when the site is working correctly.

thanks. I've never done it before. Usually just pull from one membership but I'm a few points short since we can't borrow more than 50% still. I don't book 11 months until next month. Guessing the 50% rule won't be changed by then. lol

No, I think we are looking at sometime in 2022 before that can happen. Just to be clear, points transferred, even when someone has more than one membership, never change home resort priority, so you always have to wait until 11 months to use them.

For example, if I transfer some of my SSR points from Dec UY to my Aug UY, I can not use them with my RIV points until the 7 month mark for bookings. They are still SSR points no matter which membership they are in.

As long as the points you transfer are valid for the dates of the trip you are booking, you can get it taken care of now so that when the 7 month window opens, you can just book with them online by checking the temporary contract they are in!

Remember, too, that you cannot transfer banked or borrowed points. Plus you cannot borrow transferred points, but you can bank transferred points. So if you are booking a Nov trip and need to use the points from your Dec contract, you can't use points that need to be borrowed to complete the reservation.

I have enough points for 3 nights in a studio and 2 nights in a 2 bedroom and 1 night in a studio at my 11 month booking with my AKL contract. At 7 months out I'd need to transfer 16 points from my October use year contract (getting 19 points because already have another reservation for the other points) with my SSR contract. *I want to use those points to modify my studio reservation so I have 3 nights in a 2 bedroom.

This will be for next June. So in July I can make my 11 month booking and then in November try to switch it to a 2 bedroom. As long as there is a 2 bedroom available I should be able to do that, right?

It helps to know what the other UY is that hold your AKL contracts. Without knowing that, its a little hard to make sure it will work correctly once you transfer the points and which UY you need to transfer to make it work.

For example, if you trip is in June 2022, it falls in your October 2021 UY. That means you would have to transfer October 2021 UY points to use in June. If you tried and transferred October 2022 UY points it will not work because you'd have to "borrow" them for the June trip and transferred points can not be borrowed.

You also have to make sure those points are transferred while your other UY is still in its 2021 UY. Once it goes to its 2022 UY, those points can not be used. So, what is the UY that will receive the SSR points?

It will work as long as you transfer the points from the Oct 2021 UY into the June UY while you are still in your June 2021 UY (before next June). That will then count as your 2021 UY transfer...although they seem to now allow owners to transfer more than once if doing it between their own UYs.

Since you'd want to book in November anyway, it should be all set since you will still be in the 2021 UY for both at the time of the transfer! You do have to call for the transfer, but the points can now be booked online so once you do that, you can go on at the 7 month window and use them with your AKL points to modify the reservation assuming there is still the room you want!
