Point Transfer Question

I know that transferred points retain their UY and their home resort booking privileges. But do they also retain direct vs. resale privilege? What I mean is, if I had some points transferred into my account that were purchased direct, would those points be able to book RIV at the 7 month mark, even if they are not home resort RIV points?

I have not seen that question specifically answered by DVC and you should likely ask for a answer. Under the applicable rules, you should be able to use such transferred points to reserve Riviera-- points transferred retain the same use year and rights as the original owner, and the bar to booking Riviera is point specific, in that it applies only to points purchased resale after mid-Jan 2019 and to no other points that the member may have possession of, and a transfer is not considered a resale of points.

That's an interesting question! I'm going to go with yes (but, as the PP said I guess DVC MS would have to answer this question for the official answer).

Since the points that are transferred retain all the original "benefits" that the original owner had with the points, I would think that transferred "grandfathered" points or "direct DVD" points would allow the person to book at Riviera.

I agree. I think the points could be used to book something like RiV, but would be limited to only those points.

This is a similar question that was asked about OTU points and if an owner would be able to purchase for a night at RIV, even if they do not have any other points eligible.

Definitely great question to get a definitive answer.
