Point transfer question

I'm giving some thought to posting for a point transfer on the R/T board. Before I do that, I have one question. I want the points to book a reservation for myself next August at my home resort (BWV), and in order to book at the 11 month window, I know I need to find someone else with BWV as a home resort. Question: do I need to find someone with the same UY as me, or does UY not matter when doing point transfers?

They would not need to have the same use year, but you would need to make sure that their points are "current" points (not banked or borrowed) for the dates you are reserving. DVC Member Services will not let you transfer anything but current points, but I would just double check before making a deal with someone who may not know this. I have seen a ton of posts with people trying to transfer points they cannot transfer; so many people do not know/understand the rules that you have to make sure you know what your doing for the both of you.
