This week was the first time I had requested a fax of my points history. Usually I just chat with Member Services and get the information I need, but this time I wanted a hard copy.

Boy was I surprised at what I was sent. I can't say it was the easiest document I have read. In some respects it looks like some of the point tracking and calculations are manually done as oppposed to dropped into a spreadsheet. There were numerous cases where there charges and cancels, which I know I had nothing to do with. Why?

Doesn't it seem like, for the $$ it cost to join and for all the $$ for fees, shouldn't we get consise and clear statements?

Am I the only one that thinks DVC could do a better job in how they track and report point usage?

I'll get off my soapbox now :D

It took me a while to figure it out. I wish there was something easier to understand but I'm glad that at least we can get something in writing from DVC showing our activity.

Yeah.. they could probably make the report more readible. I've asked for a report once. It's difficult to follow, but quite interesting.

We tend to think of a reservation as 1 transaction...but to MS, one reservation could include: borrowing points, then a reservation from one contract, perhaps a reservation from a second contract, then maybe a cancellation, followed by another cancellation, then 2 more re-bookings.

The report shows all this messy business. It makes me appreciate the complexity of MS work, in juggling banked and borrowed points, day-to-day books, and reservation changes... all to get a member the vacation they want.
