Point & Shoot...help me decide between Canon and Nikon

Should I buy the Canon Elph 300 or the Nikon S9100?

What made you narrow it down to those two. One is a compact superzoom camera(18X) with a slow lens the other is a more limited zoom (5x) but with a fairly fast lens at least on the wide end.

Pretty different beasts overall though so we really need to know what you want.

I'm a Canon girl, I had the Canon 880 and loved it! I was going to upgrade to the Canon Elph 300 but read the Nikon S9100 was much faster with no delay, and has a better zoom. That made question which p&S I should buy?

Honestly, if you're a Canon lover, get a Canon. No use getting something else that you may end up looking for flaws in or comparing to what you didn't get. There isn't enough of a difference between P&S cameras nowadays - they're all decent enough, and none are great - any brand should achieve what you need it to achieve. Some might say that neither of the two you mentioned are the best examples of the P&S genre right now, and that there are many other brands worth considering, but you've already stated a bias for Canon products...and they're at least as good in the P&S market as any other, so stick with what you're happy with.

im also a cannon person and have had the chance to use many differt brands of camera's and have found that cannon has the best colour before any photoshoping

My p&s & slr are canon's but I'm open to trying something new. My sister has a Nikon Slr and I love the way it takes pictures, but you can't compare p&s with Slrs. I looked into Sony, but from my understanding, sony videos do not play on all computers, they need special software. Since there are so many P&S, what other p&s cameras would you say I should look into?

Not to confuse the issue, but have you looked at Panasonic Lumix cameras. We love ours.

My DH takes spectacular photos with his. Sometimes, they even look better than my Nikon DSLR's.
